Looney Tunes: Collector's Vault Vol. 1 (BD)

Consider this Collectors Choice Volume 5, but better!
I’m thrilled to buy and support more Looney Tunes on Blu-Ray!I would encourage anyone serious about collecting Looney Tunes on disc to seek out interviews from George Feltenstein (Warner Archives) and Jerry Beck (animation historian) to learn about their vision for the Collectors Vault series going forward.Volumes 1-4 of the Collector’s Choice series was an effort to bring us shorts that were not on any previous disc collections (DVD or Blu-Ray) in remastered form. Each volume of Collector’s Choice was a single disc. That effort has now been rebranded as Collector’s Vault. However, it has expanded to include two discs in each volume for only a few dollars more than the single disc Collector’s Choice volumes. The first disc will continue the trend of releasing shorts never offered on any Looney Tunes disc collection (DVD or Blu-Ray) in remastered form. This is essentially what would have been Collector’s Choice Volume 5. The additional second disc will contain shorts never offered on Blu-Ray in high definition. For example, this will include shorts available on the Golden Collection DVDs that pre-dated Blu-Ray.This approach will allow Warner Archives to continue releasing new material (disc 1) while also upgrading SD/DVD shorts to HD/Blu-Ray (disc 2).I would not consider this approach “double dipping,” and I would not consider it cheating us out of additional new material. Instead, it is a cost-effective way to get both new remastered cartoons out on disc, while also upgrading ones that were previously DVD only.Note that the 1-disc Collectors Choice volumes list for $21.99 while the new 2-disc Collectors Vault volume lists for $24.99. For $3 extra dollars, we get double the shorts.I’m hopeful people support these new volumes so we can continue to get Looney Tunes on Blu-Ray for years to come, and eventually complete the library.Side note, it was revealed that the inclusion of “DOUBLE OR MUTTON” in this collection was a mistake, as it was already released in Collector’s Choice Volume 4. However, it was also announced they would make up for this error by including an “extra” disc one short (26 instead of 25) on Collector’s Vault volume 2 when it is released.

Another bound to be great set by Warner Archive!
Yes there are so-called “double dips” but these are going to be of higher quality than the DVDs, and going to look much better and sound better. There are 25 new to disc shorts (1 accidentally included, that being “Double or Mutton”), and there are 25 new to Blu-ray shorts. Here’s the list of cartoons that will be included.DISC ONE: NEW TO DISCBARS AND STRIPES FOREVER (1939)BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (1934)A DAY AT THE ZOO (1939)THE DIXIE FRYER (1960)DOUBLE OR MUTTON (was on LTCC V. 4)EACH DAWN I CROW (1949)EASY PECKIN’S (1953)FEATHER DUSTED (1955)FOX IN A FIX (1951)GOOD NIGHT ELMER (1940)THE GOOFY GOPHERS (1947)I'D LOVE TO TAKE ORDERS FROM YOU (1936)KIDDIES KITTY, A (1955)LET IT BE ME (1936)OF FOX AND HOUNDS (1940)QUACKODILE TEARS (1962)READY, WOOLEN AND ABLE (1960)ROBIN HOOD MAKES GOOD (1939)SQUAWKIN' HAWK, THE (1942)TERRIER-STRICKEN (1952)TWEET AND LOVELY (1959)TWEETY'S CIRCUS (1955)TWO'S A CROWD (1950)WILD ABOUT HURRY (1959)ZIP 'N SNORT (1961)DISC TWO: NEW TO BLU-RAYAIN’T SHE TWEET (1952)BANTY RAIDS (1963)BIRTH OF A NOTION (1947)BYE BYE BLUEBEARD (1949)CAT-TAILS FOR TWO (1953)DAFFY DILLY (1948)DAFFY DUCK AND EGGHEAD (1938)GEE WHIZ-Z-Z-Z-Z-Z-Z (1956)GONZALES’ TAMALES (1957)HARE CONDITIONED (1945)HARE TRIGGER (1945)HARE TRIMMED (1953)HORTON HATCHES THE EGG (1942)LITTLE BOY BOO (1954)MUCH ADO ABOUT NUTTING (1953)ODOR-ABLE KITTY (1945)PAST PERFUMANCE (1955)PORKY’S DUCK HUNT (1937)RABBIT PUNCH (1948)RED RIDING HOODWINKED (1955)RHAPSODY RABBIT (1946)SNOW BUSINESS (1953)TOM TURK AND DAFFY (1944)TWO CROWS FROM TACOS (1956)ZOOM AND BORED (1957)If you want to support upcoming Looney Tunes collections by Warner Archive, I suggest you buy this. Kellye’s review and insight spot on
I think the review/info and opinion Kellye posted is spot on. This is a great value compared to the last 4 releases. I have all the Golden LT DVD sets and I have no problem paying an extra $3.00 here to get an entire disc of the already remastered shorts from the DVDs but in beautiful high definition. That is an upgrade in my humble opinion and not a double dip move. That’s not to say WB has never pulled the double dip move but this doesn’t count. WB has really done a good job giving fans of the classic Looney Tunes a lot of love when it comes to all the work they’ve done restoring and remastering so many wonderful Looney Tunes shorts. These classic cartoons deserve to be restored to their original glory and WB treats these like the important American cultural history they are. I hope someday we have all the DVD shorts brought to HD blu ray. What a joy that would be to watch these with future grandkids. 😊

When are never released shorts ever be included into a blu ray compilation?
When are the Inki & Minah bird be included in a compilation. Also there are a lot of Bugs Bunny shorts such as Big Top Bunny be included into the compilations. We are missing Pete Puma with Bugs Bunny shorts and the elephant Horton Hatches the Egg be included in a blu ray compilations. They keep repeating the same shorts over and over except that they change the name of the compilation. Warner Bros, do yourself a favor and release to the public those tunes that have never been released before.
