Interesting ideas, let down by the execution.
I really wish I could recommend this phone. I loved the idea of it, I'm a big fan of ruggedized phones, long lasting batteries, and the idea of a projector on it... well, okay, that might have blinkered my judgement a bit. Sure, it's big, but I'm a big chap, I've been carrying around a Doogee brick for three years, that'll be fine, right?Alright, I'm six and a half foot tall, I weigh three hundred and fifty pounds and this phone is *too flipping big*. It defies the strongest belts *and I make my own belts for extra strength*. That's not the real problem though. It's not as rugged as you'd think, either. It's taken a couple of tumbles - one in particular onto concrete that would have ended a lesser phone - and lived, but each one's left a noticeable ding in the housing and I spotted the other day that there's a crack in the screen at the corner. Not great, after three months, when the last one I had lasted three years with no damage at all. So why didn't it have a screen protector?Because the screen digitizer is *terrible*. I had to remove the protector (which came with it) because it would go crazy every time I tried to use the keyboard. Even without it, it has its moments when I need to put it down for a moment or two while it settles down and works out what's a touch and what isn't, because once in a while, for lack of a better word, it's basically haunted. That still isn't the problem. The REAL problem is that the hotspot just straight up doesn't work 80% of the time with my laptop, my camera or with my car stereo. Sticks in a loop of connecting and disconnecting, which very occasionally can be fixed for a while by rebooting *everything involved*. So, no satnav, no spotify, no uploading pictures to the cloud, no working on the go... You want backup internet? Carry another phone. The projector... is *fine*. Predictably, it doesn't get as much use as you'd think and the occasions when it would be useful, conditions have been too bright to use it.I bought it because my old phone was 4G and was no longer getting connectivity. Its 5G did solve that problem. The torch is excellent. No complaints about the torch. The phone performance is also great. I'm not one for mobile games but it's been great at what I've asked it to do and google maps, browser tabs... fill your boots, it's grand. But excessive weight + no hotspot connectivity = I wish I hadn't bought this phone.
