I sew a lot and have been through a few irons in the past year. My Rowenta is pretty good, but randomly spits out black gunk, perhaps I'm not cleaning it right. The Chi Lava has been great. Lots of steam, presses well. I like that it stays on for half an hour before shutting itself off. It is a little heavy, which probably is conducive to pressing, but could be an issue for some. My only real complaint is that it is hard to see the water line. The compartment is red plastic and hard to see through. Otherwise, it has been the best iron that I have used to date.

The Chi Iron is the best iron on the market for home use. Works like a dream. I have had the previous version which I gave to my maid. I bought this as a replacement. It never leaks and works great.

The best thing about this iron is it doesn’t cut off for 30 minutes after you have used it. Nothing more frustrating than to be sewing and get ready to press and the iron has turned off. Other qualities are perfect. I do not use steam in my iron.

Like this alot. I enjoyed using the pointed tip to iron in between the buttons on my husband’s dress shirts.

This is a good iron for my sewing room. Not loving the lava sole plate, the ceramic may have been better. I like the retractable cord and longer time before auto shot off. Replacing a Rowenta so my expectations are high and it does a good job with steam and heating up and does not leak water, which can be problematic.
