Didn't See That Coming
I give myself 0 out of 5 stars for predicting how this movie ends. Also, there are multiple levels of terrifying in this movie. The slight of hand in this one is masterful.

First-rate, classic slasher film
One of the best classic slasher flicks. Filled with chills and thrills. Great acting by the young cast. It is a believable element that the young actors actually are about the age of the characters they portray, unlike so many other Β« camp Β» films. The background music is most appropriate and accentuates the chilling moments, sometimes causing me to jump in my seat. The director has brought out the best in his actors, giving them an authenticity that contributes to the believability of the sometimes unbelievable events. The theme of bullying is handled with some dramatic undertones. Though the bullies in this film meet their maker in disturbing terms, in real life they do not. As brutal as their deaths may be, we understand the horrors of bullying. The ending of the film is a surprise and a shocker and at that moment, everything falls into place and we come to an understanding of all the events that preceded. The extras are great too, especially theΒ« Making of Β» with interviews by the cast and crew.Great film to watch on a misty Halloween night.Or on a stormy night!Highly recommended!

The Greatest Movie I've seen this week.
I'm in my mid-40's and this is the first time seeing this. Why? Why did I not know this movie existed before today? I feel robbed. I feel that had I watched this movie when it was fresh, that it would have enhanced my youth; nay, the whole of my life. Why? Look at me now!

Don't judge a book (video) by it's cover
Back in the early 90's I've seen Sleepaway Camp on the shelves at the local video store. It looked like a typical Friday the 13th slasher knockoff, a genre which I was tired of, a killer stalking kids at a summercamp? Not too original, guys. I was more into the Nightmare on Elm Street and Hellraiser, films that were more rooted into the supernatural. So with a stick up my butt, I passed. In the recent months I've been buying up dvd's of horror and exploitation films I've heard of or neglected to see. Well, Sleepaway Camp was on the list, so with an open mind and some low (very low) expectations, I gave it a look. I'm still kicking myself for being so ignorant. Sleepaway Camp is a good if not underated, horror film with a great shock ending. I wouldn't rank it up with the films of Hitchcock, De Palma, or Argento, but it definitly deserves an honorable mention. The image of Angela at the closing of the film will stay with you for a awhile. Aside from that it is a low budget affair with some campy acting, but I was expecting that and actually enjoyed it. The filmwork itself was of a better quality than I expected. Anyone wanting to explore the genre of the 80's slasher film, this a must see!

A must see for anyone who missed it
This movie is what it is. An early cash in attempt on the camp slasher genre. Better than most, as it starred actual kids playing the kids. Bought it so my wife who was raised in another country could see what I was talking about. We enjoyed it, but not likely to rewatch it many times. An essential piece of the history of the genre, but fully represents most of the shortcomings of the early attempts. If the end hasn't been spoiled for you, don't let anyone ruin it. First viewing with innocent eyes is an experience not to be missed for the burgeoning genre fan.
