This is the only KitchenAid stand mixer attachment I use on a regular basis.
This is the only KitchenAid stand mixer attachment I use on a regular basis. It is completely un-fussy: few moving parts and the blade you use most stores right in the unit. It cleans beautifully in the dishwasher, and takes just a second to screw in and out. It isn't difficult to use and messy like the ice cream maker, or complicated and hard to clean like the big food processing unit. Some of the other attachments may also be good -- I'm always tempted to try the grain grinder for example. But this is the one that stays in the cupboard in its box right about my mixer.

Fantastic shredder!
LOVE THIS! I was hesitant to order it at first as I thought it would be a pain to clean. However, it's super easy to clean! It takes just a couple of seconds to attach to the mixer and it doesn't move around while you're using it. I've really put it to the test with big pieces of cheese and it stands up to the challenge and shreds all cheeses really well, even wet cheeses. It's easy to store back in the box it came in and then everything stays together!

Makes my life so much easier
If you're thinking about buying this, DO IT.I had been wanting it for a while but waited until my rotary grater broke to finally purchase it, and honestly I wish I had just done it sooner! It's so much easier and takes almost effort on my part. It's not quite as fast as those rotary graters where you spin it yourself, but again, this is significantly less effort than those. If you're someone who uses fresh shredded cheese often, it is 100% worth purchasing. The only issue I've had is occasionally some cheese getting stuck in between the grater and the piece that holds it, but that's a price I'm willing to pay for the overall convenience of this. I've had it for a few months now and it's held up very well with regular use. It's much safer than regular graters and thanks to the pieces you use to push the cheese down with, there's no having to worry about sliced fingers.Overall this is just a very good product and worth every penny. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is thinking about purchasing!

This is absolutely amazing and worth every penny. I specifically got it to help with shredding my own cheeses, and let me tell you — it has made that process a total cinch! No more wrestling with a box grater or wasting time; this attachment makes quick, effortless work of blocks of cheese. I use it most when making homemade mac-and-cheese, and the difference in taste is like night and day! Shredding your own cheese means you avoid the anti-caking agents and preservatives found in pre-shredded cheeses, and it melts so much smoother and tastes a hundred times better — trust me! This attachment makes it so easy that I’ll never go back to bagged cheese again! It’s also a breeze to clean and super simple to attach to my KitchenAid mixer. If you’re serious about leveling up your cooking, especially cheesy dishes, this is a must-have to have in your arsenal!

Does the job, but handwash is required
For a family who grates a lot of cheese, I would recommend this. It is easy to use and does a good job by grating fresh cheese. My only complaint is that a small amount of cheese will get stuck on the outer wall and will not grate. This is not a deal breaker but a minor issue. I do not mind the cleanup, but you cannot run in the dishwasher and must clean by hand. It is not recommended to run underneath the faucet.

Say cheese
So, my house doesn't buy shredded cheese, something about wax and wood puld always turned me off of the stuff. Once a week, we would grate a block of cheese and bag it.My wife asked for a crank one and I was onboard, if you have ever grated a knuckle when doing it old school, you know the struggle is real. Me being me... If I'm going to buy a new one for convenience, what is more convenient than hitting button and just pushing it through! If you have a KitchenAid mixer and grate cheese, even just once a month... Spend the extra coin and get this puppy.I see more homemade pizza nights in our future..

Really useful especially for large recipes!
Our family adores cheese! We layer it in casseroles, top it with Panko crumbs, sprinkle it on scrambled eggs, add it to blender sauces, and so much more. One thing we learned in all this is to grate it ourselves. Store bought shredded cheese has anit-caking agents like cornstarch to keep it from clumping but that interferes with a lot of recipes (like Mac & Cheese). We have the biggest KitchenAid mixer available for home use so we got to work. The grating attachment blade works extremely well especially for medium to hard cheeses. My husband is contantly overdoing the amount because it is so fun to use. Big batches of shredded potatoes are a breeze. We set a pot full of salted ice water underneath the opening and shred right into it. Afterward, it is simple to drain and blot dry for use in hash brown recipes on our outdoor griddle. YUM!Uniform slicing for large casseroles is a delight. Same process with salted water. Drain, dry, and then layer them easily for Scalloped Cheesy Potatoes. This also works on our older, smaller KA mixer. I love the brand because it is sturdy and powerful.
