a must for rural and city night rides
The light was bright, but i noticed my light vibrating at resonate frequencies... i uninstalled the light and noticed the top left plastic refractor was loose- and it abraded the plastic lens.the screws that hold it into place came loose. bummer.i contacted Ocean Source and they got me a replacement really quick. so i thank them, i still had my stock light but who wants stock once u see bright LED(At least with the Vicky Octane). so to say i reinstalled my stock, but i avoided night riding. Now for the light: its bright... way lighter than stock. In SC its deer season year round in the rural parts.A story: last week i was coming home bout 1130pm... i had high beams on doing 60mph(i normally do 40 tops on this road at night but had a cager driving too close when i was in front, and getting on the brakes too often when i was behind... so be before the road turned to one lane, i speed up to get some distance). So i got my distance and i'm in my rear view checking to make sure they were well behind me.... so to say my focus was not 100% in front of me.im thinking to myself, im going to fast heading into deer ally.i was about a mile away from home and 40-50 feet out,.... a BIGGO deer!!... i instantly react, i lock up my rear, fish tailed, but i did not high side, thank stephanie tanner and baby mark messier. Im a calm rider so i can hand a fish tail at 50mph, but i was still lucky. this is why:-my tires were warmed up as it was the end of my ride-the ground was dry-i had LED lighting which gave me a BRIGHT shot of what was ahead of me.-Ocean Source sent me a replacement light ASAP and i installed it ASAPIf i did not have this LED light, i dont think i would have had 40 feet to react, would been more like 25... which is NOTHING when you talking about avoiding a deer strike on 2 wheels doing 50-60.So if u have a stock light, GO LED(even if u pick a diff style from a diff place-- just get visible!!- this light of mine is perfect for me, my taste, my safety)... seller has prompt customer service- i had to utilize it so i know. The light looks nice on the octane as well. With this light and my riding strategy, ppl dont pull out in front of me, they instead tend to wait- still yet im not complacent out there.dont wait to do this upgrade.... its cheap and can save your life.buy with confidence.Peace and be safe out there.

lens has NOT fogged up
this was a good choice for my 2006 sportster, very easy plug and play, plenty of room in the headlight bucket, not an issue at all. the only wire in the bucket is for the headlightyou must use the sealing ring around the original light to get the new light to fit in the bucket and that ring has a front and back, it only works one way, pay attention to how it is on the original lightNOTE..... you must use some kind of spacer with the sealing ring on the original light there is a rubber piece that has 4 fingers that reach to the ring and sit under it giving a little vibration dampening and a tight seal, without the rubber the light isn't tight in the bucketi chose to NO to cut up the harley seal and used a bit of rubber gasket material about 1/4 in sq. i then super glued it to the ring (this is easier than you might think)then i placed the light with the sealing ring in place into the bucketit took a little finesse to get the chrome ring back around the light, but it was a tight seal and works as well as the factory set up______________________________________________________________________________________________________it took several tries to get the headlight aimed just right, until i got the aim proper i was thinking the light was less than i wanted it to be and was disappointed .when i got the proper aim the light really lit up the road, i hadn't used high beam to this point, when you hit the switch to high beam you go holy crap.... it is a flamethrowerso yea i am thinking this was a major step up from the existing light, .it didn't come alive until i had proper aim. i would have written a different review if i hadn't of taken the time to get it just right. i have it adjusted just a tad farther out than you might think it should be, still not shining into the eyes of on coming traffic but right at the edgei live here in the mountains of western nc, . this light makes a huge difference while going through the twisties at night.the brightness of the light is very white, when you pass cars the light washes out their lights where they shine on the pavement....................................there is a negative, while riding during the day it is harder for other traffic to see your headlight, i think maybe because of the directionality of the ledsi was told that by several people i ride with. it all but disappears in someones rear view mirrorso it may be easier to see a regular light over one of these, we all know how 4 wheelers need all the help they can get to see us
