Top Choice 17624 3-Way Perennial Ryegrass Grass Seed Mixture, 20-Pound

Chicago spring/early summer, during a rainy part of the month, I tore up a decently large square of turf (in foreground of picture). It was all dirt, sifted out of rocks and weeds - no added soil. Using a broadcast spreader, I mixed this seed with some fertilizer granules (containing added iron), and within a week there was grass! I didn't even need to water. Mother nature and the quality of this seed took care of the rest.I've never done anything like this before. I did only mild research into my climate, the amount of sun required, the existing grass, and then determined what I needed. This blend of grass looks pretty darn similar to my existing turf, but the line between the two is quite noticeable when looking for it. I would recommend much more overseeding than what I did. That likely would have helped with the blending. NBD though.If I could do it, you could too with this seed. I'm estatic and can't wait to fix up more!

Despite not following the directions and just tossing this on top of my Bermuda grass, it had decent germination, and so far, I haven't seen any weeds at all. Will be buying more.

Followed the directions, but also put out seed from two other companies... this one barely came in, while EZseed did great in comparison.

The seeds germinate about ever ten seeds! I was very diligent in water everyday mostly misting but occasional solid watering. The seeds just don't sprout hardly at all. I bought last year and same thing. I've learned my lesion to buy seeds local to your environment.
