Great product that "grows" with your kids
The Safe Sippy is a great product in many ways. When we bought our first Safe Sippy, I was looking for a stainless steel sippy cup/water bottle because I try to not have my kids use plastic products. Both my 4 year old daughter and 1 year old son use Safe Sippys. In addition to being stainless steel and BPA free, we love these bottles because:* they're dishwasher safe (although I do hand-wash the mouthpiece)* they come in great colors, which makes them attractive to my kids and helps me to keep track of which bottle belongs to who* they "grow" with your child. We started out using the bottle with its handles and colored sleeve. Then, when my daughter got older, we took the handles off. After that, we removed the sleeve because it was no longer needed for grip or 'cushioning' when dropped (and it also makes it easier to clean without the sleeve).* they're light-weight* they rarely leak (as long as the valve is properly in place). We'd had problems with about 5 other kinds of sippy cups/kids' water bottles and this is our favorite* easy to get inexpensive replacement parts if any parts get lost* super friendly customer service at Kid Basix* durable. My daughter's been using her bottles for almost 3 years. The stainless steel bottle is still going strong and we just replaced the mouthpiecesMy sister-in-law saw us using these bottles and thought they were so great that she bought them for both her kids too. Several of my friends also have them for their children. Wonderful product! Very thoughtfully designed.

not a spill proof bottle- will return
After having fiddled with it for a few weeks, I am going to decommission this overpriced, ill-designed product immediately.Several design flaws make using it a downright terrible experience.Worst first:The silicone gasket meant to provide a seal between bottle and cap simply doesn't do that. When you tighten the cap, the thin stainless steel rim will just push it out of the groove it's supposed to sit in. Nothing you can do about this, as there is nothing to hold it in place (e.g. a little plastic tab to push it under). Each time I open the bottle, the little silicon gasket falls out immediately.Design Flaw:The no-spill valve likewise "refuses to stay in place". That happens quite frequently, causing puddles. The silicone valve is supposed to just be pushed into the cap from the inside and snap into place.Apparently the resulting connection is not strong enough to safely secure it to the cap.The weight balance is off, at least for toddlers. In order to drink, they need to turn the bottle upside down. But the handles sit too far up, making it bottom-heavy.Most toddlers will not have enough strength in their tiny wrists to "flip" the heavy bottom upwards - and hold it up, in order to successfully drink. The product description should give a hint by providing an appropriate age. I'm sure a 3-year-old won't have a problem with that, but our 15-month-old always needs our help holding the bottle upside down.In the end that doesn't really matter, because of the gasket/valve issue. As much as I like the thought of having a stainless steel bottle, the lack of functionality is just not worth it.If we still can, we will return this.

great sippy
Yes its a bit pricy but this sippy rocks. its safe (as clearly advertised) dishwasher safe and really cool looking. My 2 year old son was so excited to find it accompanying his breakfast this morning. He even took it with him in the car on the way to school. its true my son doesnt need sippies any more as he can use a regular cup but i appreciate that it is travel and couch friendly. This is a great sippy for "big kids" who no longer need sippies but their moms still want the security of a contained cup. i bet younger children would enjoy using his as well bc it has the handles on the side.

I didn't want my toddler's drink sitting around for hours in plastic containers...
We have tried to avoid plastics when/where reasonable, and I knew I didn't want my toddler's drink sitting around for hours in plastic containers if I could find a good alternative. A lot of the stainless cups I found were very expensive, but these had a more reasonable price. We've been using them now for about 9 months and they are holding up well. Eventually we'll probably need to buy replacement valves, but so far so good. I do take the silicon sleeve off once a week to wash well underneath and no issues with gunk or mold underneath. They do get easier to remove over time and I find that holding it under running water helps. We've gotten a couple dents and dings from dropped cups, but only when I've not put the silicon sleeve back on.Tip - baby leggings make an excellent sleeve for these if you want to cover the steel without putting the rubber sleeve back on.Update - We've been using these about a year and a half. They are still leak free except some minor dripping if it's slammed or shaken. The sleeves have developed some molding and discoloration from moisture that becomes trapped in between the sleeve and cup. I'll admit, I ran them through the dishwasher with the sleeve on a number of times, but they were just so hard to take on and off! I've washed them as well as possible, but can't get rid of all the discoloration inside. Most of them I've stopped using, and instead I use a fabric sleeve or he just holds it by the handle. Not the company's fault I didn't remove it for washing, just updating so others have a heads up.

Best sippy cup we've found!
This is a pretty awesome sippy cup as sippy cups go. Definitely the best sippy cup we've found. I was worried about leakage since some of the commenters said it leaked, but as long as you have the little rubber pieces (valve and washer) in place, it does not leak. One time the little rubber washer came out in the dishwasher and we didn't notice (it's clear), and THEN it leaked like crazy. It keeps milk cold on outings and our 16mo old loves it - not too heavy to walk around with, the hard spout stands up to his chewing, and the silicone casing means it doesn't make too much of a racket when he throws it. This did not come with the straw attachment or stopper valve, which I didn't realize but am fine without. It's also really easy to clean.

Keeps things cold that's for sure
definitely keeps contents cold for a very long time, nice for milk because who wants to drink old milk?!Highly durable, but not leakproof, the small amount in the spout will leak (every time!).You have to removed the piece inside for cleaning, easy enough, and we store it with the lid off.The handles come off when you remove the lid and we just ended up eventually not using the handle at all, partly because it comes off with every wash and because my child can hold the bottle without handles (nice feature for learning though). I'd recommend and buy again. More neutral tone colour option would make me very happy!

This is the old version - no straw or non-spill included
After placing 3 separate orders (2 green, 1 blue) thinking that parts were missing, I have determined that these bottles are the old version of Safe Sippy without the straw or no-spill plug. If you are okay with no straw (means child must tilt bottle up like a baby bottle), then go ahead and order. If not, buy with caution. I really liked this bottle, and so purchased for a family member, but I will have to look elsewhere unfortunately.

We bought this to replace our plastic 'Munchkin' brand sippy ...
We bought this to replace our plastic 'Munchkin' brand sippy cups. Unfortunately, the Safe Sippy leaks A LOT more. Child fell asleep twice now in the car seat with this sideways on his lap and woke up soaked each time.
