Very nice Compliment to my Classic Stacks on a Strat
I own 2012 American Deluxe SSS Stratocaster that had The N3 noiseless Pickups. Though the guitar is amazing overall, I Always missed that True Single Coil Chime & the Notch Positions Quack!I Play mainly Counrty/Pop/Blues & Rock Music ... Mostly Retro Music. So,I contacted Seymour Duncan and they Suggested I try out the STK-S4 Neck and Middle with a TB-11 on the Bridge for Versatility.Without a doubt, I went ahead and Got This Set(as the Individual Neck&Middle weren't available that the Time) and the TB-11. Got a Premium Wiring Kit with CTS Pots and an Oak Grigsby SuperSwitch and Copper Shielding Tape. An All New PickGuard - so I could Keep my Old One as It is ... just in case I wanted to go back.Wiring Diagrams were given to me by Seymour Duncan Support ... so that made it a lot easier.after wiring it and Plugging it in ... Ooooooooooooooh .... Sweet Mother Of the Holy Grail ... My SEARCH IS OVER!!!Indeed - That Bell like tone, that Classic Sweetness on the Neck, Bright Middle, and that TB-11 thickness is all so balanced a Setup that I feel I'd Not quite need to go back to my STOCK Pickguard ever. The TB-11 is nice and Sweet ... not too Bright that'd make my Strat Un-Necessarily Scream like a Baby. They Balance pretty well with the Classic Stacks - At Least To My ears.Notch Position with the Middle is Superb - I get a very Close Tone to that of Mark Knopfler playing "Lady Rider" - I simply Love It.the TB-11 By Itself is able to deliver all that Classic Drive tone that I Need - Nice Thick MidRange... am Really happy With this Purchase.I Can't say anything Much about it ... but I have after a long time ... I finally got what I Was Truly looking for.

Decent Upgrade on Fender HSS Strat with Shawbucker
Didn't like the stock 'Shawbucker' in my Strat HSS. Read a bunch of reviews and settled on this Trembucker as a replacement. One thing of note: from reviews, etc. I was under the impression this would be a drop-in replacement for the Shawbucker. It is not. The Fender HSS has two retaining screws on the top and one on the bottom. The bottom single screw fits perfectly, the top two do not. They are about 0.125" off from the two outside mounting locations on the pickup. Because of the length of the retaining screws it might be possible to still use the two holes on the pickup mount. Unfortunately the two outside holes on the Duncan pickup are not tapped - thus I didn't try. Just beware: if you need those two holes buy a tap - whatever it is.My solution was to take the mount from the original Shawbucker and attach it to the back of the Duncan. I had to drill holes, cut things, etc. to make this work. But it did work after an hour or more of messing around. To be honest I never liked the sound of the Shawbucker. Taking it out to replace it made me realize it is physically a cheap pickup. The Duncan is a much more robust and well-wound pickup compared to the Fender. The copper shielding around the pickup is a nice touch. The Duncan sound is much more to my liking compared to the Fender. To me it blows away the original Fender pickup by far. Nice chunky mid-range and bass. Unfortunately at the same time I replaced the Shawbucker with this pickup, I replaced my middle pickup with the Duncan Texas Hot Retrospect RWRP. The sound of that middle pickup so blows away the sound of this humbucker I am literally thinking of buying another pickguard and converting my HSS to a traditional SSS Stratocaster.Maybe I am just not a humbucker guy or something...

A great pickup for rock music
I have a bright-sounding guitar with a maple neck and a Floyd Rose. This pickup helped mellow the highs. The response is that Alnico 2 looseness. The sound has a certain rawness to the attack but it's also a darker sound. The frequency range is kinda uneven compared to a ceramic pickup or A5 but it makes for a raunchiness that I like for a change. It sounds... Earthy if I may be so abstract. Not spacey like many DiMarzios.. Earthy, sweet, yet with a raunchy attack. It somewhat lacks balls for chunky palm-muted stuff or high-gain. The sound is best for hard rock like GnR or Van Halen but not Metallica.Overall I love this pickup. It's a great choice it you play rock music and you need to mellow put a pokey or thin-sounding ax.

Mistake? No Problem.
I ordered this pick-up by mistake. But it still arrived in a timely manner. Blue Star Music was very helpful with the return of the pick-up and getting the one I wanted, which ultimately turned out to be the Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB. The pick-up arrived in just a few days and was installed in my son's guitar (that's who it was for), and so far he's been happy with it. Thanks Blue Star, and Amazon.
