The Art of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind

This is an amazingly well thought art book, incredible print, paper and cover quality, this "Art of" series gives a very insightful perspective of thought process and art direction of Mitsuki Nakamura and Hayao Miyazaki, this is an amazing gift for aspiring artists and Studio Ghibli fans alike.

A few years ago I went on a Miyazaki art book kick and got all of the VIZ editions. At the time, Nausicaä was oddly absent, but in its place was the collected manga and a larger Watercolor Impressions book that didn't 'match' the dimensions and presentation of the other 'Art of' books. Well this year it was finally rectified and we have the Art of Nausicaä proper. As with the other books, this is a collection of the pre-movie conceptualized sketches and art as well as some final cells from the anime feature. The paper is relatively heavy, glossy and attractive like the others in the series (note the Watercolor Impressions book is heavier stock but matte vs. glossy). There's about 20 pages worth of explanations of the special effects employed in the movie and further editorial stories from the serialization of the manga. A great book all told, recommended! (j4.)

I am very satisfied with this purchase. And yes, I would recommend this book to friends. I was able to appreciate the hard work the team went through to make the artwork and animations work perfectly for the film. And if you think and take into consideration the year when this film was made, you know they really put their heart and soul into making this film. This anime film is a true classic masterpiece if you ask me.

I am a big fan of this particular story and now I have almost completed what I have been after. Great item and if you are a fan like I am I would recommend this.

Nausicaa is one of my favourite movies of all time. This book was a must have for me!

If you like Studio Ghibli then Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind art book is a must have. So happy with this purchase.

This book is amazing and goes into detail about a lot about the movie, the meaning about things you might have missed, the sketches and obviously the art! It also arrived really fast.

La colección "The art of" de Studio Ghibli es increible, incluyen una inmensa cantidad de fotogramas, bocetos, conceptos, así como detalles de animación, producción, curiosidades sobre la pélicula, guión de voces, etc...En particular, el volumen de Naussicä del valle del viento, aparenta ser uno de los tomos menos extensos de la colección, pero hay que tener en cuenta que es la única película que tiene una edición adicional de impresiones en acuarela que es una verdadera belleza.Un tirón de orejas a amazon porque muchos de los libros que compré de la coleción traen las esquinas tocadas y algunas manchas en las tapas, siendo nuevos.
