I believe these phones are not compatible USA carrier because FBI wants to track all your personal information camera, microphone, storage, data everything. If you are not sure about it watch the movie and read about snowden.

I had to return this phone, because I live in the United States and this is NOT a North America Blackphone 2, it is a Rest of the World Blackphone 2. According to the manufacturer, Silent Circle, a Rest of the World Blackphone 2 will not connect to U.S. 4G/4G LTE networks. Also, Silent Circle confirmed that they are no longer producing North America Blackphone 2s--you can only exchange existing North America Blackphone 2s, with Silent Circle, for refurbished North America Blackphone 2s (for example if you crack the screen on one you already own).Make sure you verify compatbility with your provider if you do purchase this--I was remiss for not being more careful in doing that.

Silent Circle pulled out form the American Market. Since then they have been referring BP2 Owner to a UK partner for phone repairs. This partner has shown questionable integrity in how they do business. First all all they kept omitting that there will be no more OTA updates form Silent Circle and dance around the question. Not having security updates for this particular chip makes this phone a paperweight. Second I spoke with different people from this UK company. They all gave different pricing to exchanged my broken device for a " new one " They also stated that unless you had a silent circle subscription they would not replaced your device. When I wrote to silent circle " Keep in mind I was referred to this UK company by them " they stated they had no control over what this company did. They copy them on this email. Soon after I received an email from yet another salesperson saying that they did not asked customers to have a current silent circle subscription to exchange a device. ( Contrary to previous written communication ) They also fail to tell customers that these overseas phones DO NOT work in the US. I never did but now I question the integrity of those who work for silent circle and are putting customers in this predicament. In a NUTSHELL STAY AWAY FROM BLACK PHONE.

I've had 3 of these phones, the last two were free replacements because the first stopped functioning within a month and the second within a year. Itshardware was so poor compared to even the newer basic phones coming out that it wasn't worth using it anymore. There is excellent software out there if security and encryption are your major concerns. P.S. my third one makes an excellent T.V. remote control, albeit with short lasting battery.
