This is a nice beginner or value for a student set who goes through supplies quickly. It has everything you need to get started which is nice. Especially the addition of the pencil extender and erasures. Doesn't come in a fancy tin or anything but they all do if into the molded insert.

I'm not a professional artist. I'd probably call myself a serious amateur, & have focused on graphite & charcoal media most of my life until a recent digital focus.Over the years, I've used many kits like this in a whole range of quality. These are great for their price. The selection of hardness & types are good. There's a few additional tools like sandpaper, a blend stump, & erasers.The only real disappointment is the lack of a sharpener. It does include a small hobby blade & the sandpaper, but this is the first pencil kit I've ever gotten without a real sharpener. Actually, I nay have not even noticed the lack of one here because I've had dozens lying around until very recently when I tossed them out accidentally.This is a great kit for beginners or to get as a gift for an artistic child.

I am a professional artist so I am very picky. I thought to try these because I like to occasionally use charcoal and prefer pencils to sticks. I tested them and found several of the black pencils to be granulated and scratchy on a few different substrates , from charcoal paper, toned paper and even copy paper. The white were fine. You do get additional items and I love a pencil extender. If you are a beginner , student or you are getting these to 'test' charcoal pencils etc. it is a fair price. I will keep these for family and friends who like to 'borrow' my art supplies (I never part with my very expensive and professional artist grade products lol.) 3 stars for the white pencils and extras 2 of the black pencils were fine.

This drawing set is a good place for a budding charcoal artist to start on their journey. The set comes complete with everything needed to get started but the paper, literally. Overall, the charcoal produces minimal dust and blends well with the provided stump and also with a tissue. The harder pencils produce crisp lines, and both the included kneaded eraser and vinyl eraser work well in pulling out white space. The black charcoal is not as deep and velvety as some other brands, more of a deep rich gray, but this set does not carry the higher price point as the other brands. This set is an excellent value and I would recommend for both new and established artists.

My daughter has been getting more into pencil drawings of late, so we got her this as a starter set into the world of charcoal.This set has everything you need to get started without breaking the bank. Several different pencils, smudgers and erasers, etc. We had to even look up what some of the pieces were for, and now she's super happy just experimenting.Only note: if you're buying this for a younger child, there is a small razor blade included for sharpening things. You may want to set that aside somewhere!
