Will I fit the tent onto my bike?
When asked by the camp commandant if the tent is a small tent, I merely laughed and said I was travelling on a motorbike as it depends upon your definition of a small tent. Plus I wasn't about to pay any extra. By comparison to other tents from the likes of MSR (which I like) which I was pitched next to, the tent dwarfs the opposition with enough space to sit and eat in the porch area in comfort whilst the rain hammers down.Yes it's not a small tent, and because of this I was concerned about the size the tent packed down to.I have just spent a week travelling around Europe and the tent proved to be an excellent piece of kit. Blistering sun, thunderstorms and torrential rain were endured. No leaks at all. The tent dried quickly in the morning sun, probably why its black. Easy to put up and take down.I put the tent, the poles, pegs, mallatt, ground sheet, self inflating roll up mattress and a chair in a 70L holdall and strapped it accross the back of the bike. Still had a little room for books jumper etc left. If you can fit a full 70L holdall onto your bike and you're comfortable with it, then the tent is ideal. If there is any criticism the tent could be made so you can secure the openings. Yes it's a tent...and you shouldn't leave valuables etc..but when your travelling even your sleeping bag is valuable. A little peace of mind is not a bad thing when your off sight seeing.Downside... I found the pegs to be a tad flexible and could easily be bent. I would recommend upgrading. The straps crossing the porch..peg them down as they are easily tripped over!!!. On the other hand, you would hear the cries of anyone trying to enter the tent in the dead of night.Hope this is helpful. I am riding a 1200GS if anyone was wondering. I had no issues with carrying the kit.
