Loved the TV series Great American Railroad Journeys with Michael Portillo so just had to buy the book. We tour the US a lot and will be taking this with us on our next trip. Bonus for us was that we recently saw Michael Portillo on his tour: Life: A Game of Two Halves and he autographed it for us.

I watched Michael Portillo and his Railway journeys through the U.S.A assisted by his Appletons guide, and wanted the guide, and as it happens it is a terrific read,very informative and as I love the U.S.A it is just brilliant to learn more on the history of the Cities etc.

Arrived quickly and in perfect condition.Purchased because of Portillo's TV series, it is a mine of historical information and worth every penny.

Nice to have at hand when watching Michael Portillo in the USA travelling on their huge passenger rail network.

Great book for those who love the series and love to read about the cities.
