Heavyweight build, flush fitting option good. Fixing hampered by poor paint masking? - beware!
Much heavier unit than the fan it replaced in a bedroom. Need to make sure the ceiling joist is available to fix onto. Dangles further than the old fan so used 'flush' mounting method. This assembly option is incorrectly described in the instructions - beware! Do not try to fit this up 'flush' single-handed: You will need someone up with you to steady the blades - in-situ - as their screws are secured into place on the rotor/hub! Most difficult operation was to fit the "canopy" screws to the ceiling joist mounting plate. You may well lose some skin from your knuckles! Not a trivial job - even as a replacement for an existing installation. Glad it's all done!First impressions are otherwise good as the fan is very powerful - even when mounted 'flush' - and 'speed 1' shifts enough air on a warm day. 'Speed 3' blows you away!

Some issues when installing, but once in place, works well.
I last installed a fan about 20 years ago, in our bedroom. That particular fan was having problems with the remote control receiver, after all those years of reliable use. Being an unknown Chinese make, I was not able to source spare parts. I had been looking for a replacement when I came across the Westinghouse Colosseum at £127-00 on Amazon which is a good price for a remote controlled fan with dimmable LED light. I had been considering fitting a fan in the living room as well so I took the opportunity to order two, in white.Delivery was the following day even though the order stated 3-4 days. The instructions come in an impressive variety of languages though could still be more informative.Assembly was straightforward, and the fan gave the option for use of the supplied down rod, or flush fitting. As we have 8' ceilings I opted for flush fitting. The fan comes with a steel ceiling bracket which screws to the ceiling with 2 screws. For peace of mind it is advisable to find a beam to screw it into through the ceiling panel rather than depend on screwing it to the panel itself. If using the downrod, this has a ball which locates in a socket in the steel bracket and allows the fan to move a little to absorb any vibration. The steel cover then just locates with a couple of locating screws and is fixed with a copuple of fixing screws. If using the flush fitting, the fan fits directly to the steel cover which is fixed to the ceiling bracket as described above, without the ball and socket. In both options, the remote control receiver slides into the mounting bracket taking up the full width and the space inside the cover is very restricted. I found that to use the original connector blocks which joined the existing wiring which came through the ceiling (after removing the original bedroom ceiling fan) I had to cut out an equivalent sized hole in the plasterboard ceiling to accommodate them as the cover, with attached fan, would not fit to the ceiling bracket otherwise. Once I had established that this was the way to fit them, it was straightforward. Fitting a fan with a wall switch would be simpler, as without the remote control receiver there is plenty of space inside the cover. The living room fan was more straightforward to fit as I was able to measure up the size of the holes needed before fitting the ceiling bracket. The fan is very compact and fits neatly close to the ceiling. It has a clean modern appearance, and is easy to clean. At first glance you would not realise that there was a light included as the white frosted glass light shade blends in with the white finish of the fan. The remote control works well. The fans were fitted in November so have not been used in earnest but generate a good airflow. The bedroom fan is quieter on the high setting than the living room one but this may improve with use. The first two settings are acceptably quiet on both. An unexpected bonus is that simply using the wall light switch will turn on or off the fan mounted light which comes on at full brightness. This means that you only need to use the remote to operate the dimmer, or the fan itself. This is more useful for the living room than the bedroom. So far I am pleased with these fans. I have not given a rating for durability as they have only been fitted for a couple of months, but from experience with the previous fan I see no reason why they should not give some years of use. Spare remotes are available, and I would hope that other spares would also be available as this is a well known brand. My only concern would be the non replaceable LED light -it is built in rather than being a replaceable bulb. I would say though that it is a good bright light and it works well as the main light source in the living room and bedroom, with what I would describe as a warm white light.

Quiet and effective
The media could not be loaded. Conservatory solid roof installed, south facing windows so we knew it would still be hot in there. Bought the extension rod as an extra because of the roof. The electrician found the fan and extension ok to install, fiddly is what he said. Switch on wall and remote control. Fan is not activated until using the remote which is very handy. Not noisy just a very light hum which sent me to sleep on one occasion. I find it keeps the room cool and very happy with the purchase. The light can be on or off, dimmed via remote.

Great fan
We bought 2 of these for our conservatory and we would thoroughly recommend them. They are also fairly quiet . We had an electrician to fit them, and he found them pretty straightforward to fit.

Smart and Quiet
This is a replacement for a Fantasia fan of similar size that had given 15 years good service. Having taken note of all the problems reviewers had encountered, I wondered how I’d get on with my DIY skills. I had wired my house some years ago, so I wasn’t worried. However, I agree that the multilingual instructions are not very easy. It took me 4 hours to install, but it’s been well worth the time. The unit looks good, it’s quiet, the remote control is ideal and the dimming LED light has a good range of brightness and dimming. All-in-all a good move, but many would do well to employ an electrician. I will be labelling the reversing switch “summer” and “winter” just in case I forget!
