Seems very well made. Runs large!
This is a really nice sweater, and seems really well made. It does have a smell (but not overpowering) of lanolin. It smells vaguely like a petting zoo, but not unpleasant. It is the lanolin that naturally exists in wool that makes it resistant to water, and allows wool to keep you warm even when it gets wet.It seems like the sizing runs really big. I ordered a medium (I normally wear a men's large) and it is still very roomy on me, as you can see.Overall I am happy, just know that they run big.

This sweater purchased in denim small is amazing. It is probably 50% heavier than a Shetland sweater I bought last year from a well known vendor from Maine, which during this cold winter is very welcome. The denim color is amazing, definitely blue but with some greenish teal tones in it. Yes there is a sheep like smell to the sweater when first unpacked...it is real wool and authentically a bit rustic. There was even a tiny piece of straw fiber in the weave of mine, folks this is real from the farm wool, not oil well derived synthetic junk that is widely sold today. I ordered a small and my only fit critique is the sleeves seem a bit long. I am 5’9” and wear a 32” dress shirt sleeve, but these sleeves have to be folded back at the cuffs to fit me. Since the wool is so thick this makes for a bit of a bulky cuff. Other than that this sweater is about as perfect as one can expect for a hand knitted item made of rustic authentic thick wool. It is an excellent value for the price.

Oddly proportioned
The sizing on this sweater was wacky. The chest was larger than I expected and the sleeves were at least 6” longer than my arms but were too tight to be comfortable. The deal breaker for me though was that the collar was nearly too small for me to get my head through and then felt like it was choking me once I managed to get the sweater on. Despite what my wife may say from time to time, I do not have an unusually large head.I would totally believe this was a hand knit sweater: it was proportioned just like the ridiculously ill-fitting hand knit sweaters blind grannies make in comedy skits. It may be the one I received was just “off.” The seller was great about accepting returns and I may try to order one again in the future because I liked the look and feel of it (aside from the fit). It might be worth giving this a shot by ordering it for yourself but Is be cautious about sending it as a gift unless the recipient won’t be shy about asking to return it if it is weird.

Beautiful craftmanship_Helpful hint re: smell
Beautifully crafted and very warm. This is a bulky-knit sweater. The one I received had a strong, "peat" smell to it. Some Irish use peat to heat their homes so it made me wonder if that was the cause of the smell-hand knit in a home that uses peat? If you are planning on giving this as a gift, I would recommend buying it early and hanging it outside for at least a week to "air" it out in case you purchase one with this smell. This is what I did even though it was early December. Might also try running it in your dryer on "air only" with some smelly fabric sheets.

Oh my god I love this sweater
I ordered Medium, and normally wear a women's large. This is perfect, a little roomy and very warm.Oh my god I love this sweater! I've looked in stores to replace a beloved old sweater and never found anything this good. It's good heavy wool, densely knit, and will be a winter staple.Edited to add: I've been wearing it almost continuously for the first 2 months of winter, and there is a little pilling, but only really as would be expected. I will order another colour of the same sweater, because it really is great.

Very nice product but a little too itchy for me
The product I received seemed to be well-made and of very high quality. I was surprised at how loose the weave was in some places - loose to the point of being see-through. However, I'm not very familiar with this type of sweater and style, so I wasn't completely sure what to expect. I liked like the color very much. As some people have noted, it did have a certain odor, but it wasn't overpowering, and it seemed like it would eventually air out.Unfortunately, I knew as soon as I tried it on that this wasn't the product for me, and I immediately packed it up for return. It was just a little too itchy. I've never owned a lot of sweaters, because I don't like the itchy feeling. When I wear a sweater, it's usually with a short-sleeved t-shirt underneath. The sweater wasn't terribly itchy, but just enough so that I knew I'd rarely wear it. Other than that, I liked it, and I would have kept it if it had been just a little softer.

Very high quality 100% Irish wool sweater sold by a very customer service oriented company. As a result I have purchased 2 more 100% wool Irish sweaters along with the manufacturers suggested detergent of Wooly Wash to protect my investment.

Great Sweater
This is a great sweater; so much better than the cheap crap available at most retail stores (or online) these days! Don't let the price put you off. As with anything, you get what you pay for.

... I changed it for a medium and everything was fine. I
The large was very long so I changed it for a medium and everything was fine. I. would give it a five star except both items had a medium to strong smell of sheep. However nice and warm and very well made.
