Different - but great
I've got both of the previous Emarosa albums and when I first heard one of the songs off this new album I thought oh dear its not going to be as good as the songs sounded closer to pop music than their previous style... but having listened to the album all the way through I have now definitely changed my mind. Yes it is a slightly different style, not as heavy, but I enjoyed pretty much every song on the first listen (which is rare for me) and I'm sure they will grow on me the more I listen to the album. At the moment I still prefer the the Relativity album and I dont think that will change as I listen to this one more but at least it is some new material that still sounds great.

Stunning
When a band self title an album it's usually because they feel it's the best they can be, and Emarosa are no exception. If this album doesn't blow you away, you need to turn your stereo up a few notches louder. From the breathtaking opening of A Toast To The Future Kids! to the sing-out-loud inducing chorus of We Are Life, there is something for everyone on this album.I am prejudice, I have loved Jonny Craig since I first discovered him all those years ago when he was vocalist for Dance Gavin Dance, and I adore his phenomenal falsetto vocals more with every listen. The edge to his vocals has perfect harmonisation between him and the guitars. This is a step up. If you don't believe me, buy the damn record. Not only are they musically more refined, the lyrics are, if possible, even more unparalleled. There's not one line in any song that won't be playing in your head all day after listening to this. Relativity was an insight into the brilliance of Emarosa; and their self-titled is just the beginning to a great career. There is no end to the talent of these boys.

As a Dance Gavin Dance fan, I love this album
Being a Dance Gavin Dance fan, last.fm recommended Emarosa to me (same vocalist), and after listening to some previews I decided to purchase this album. Music is very subjective, so I find writing a long review difficult and it would probably not be of great use to anyone; all I will say is that fans of the lighter end of post-hardcore should probably get this album, and fans of Dance Gavin Dance should definitely buy it. The style is similar, and has the same amazing vocals. They're a bit lighter on the screamo, but for me that works. I'm limiting it to 4 stars because I reserve 5 for musical masterpieces, of which very few exist. If it was out of 10, I'd probably give this a 9.

Oh dear
After Relativity I had high hopes for this album as the band have now had time to grow as a band with Jonny Craig, surfice to say I was wrong. A toast to te future starts off nicely with Craig and showing off his (melower) vocal capabilities, but I can't help but feel that the chorus is a bit of a cop-out, It was if they had a spare chorus and a spare verse and slapped the two together. Don't get me wrong it is'nt a terrible album it just seems a bit, well, contrived. One major thing wrong is the recording of the drums and especially the Snare, it sounds like it has been recorded in a cave or a public toilet. Not nice. Now the news has surfced that Jonny Craig will being doing vocal duties with Dance Gavin Dance again, I for one cannot wait, as I see them as a much more competent and exciting set of musicians and song writers. If you want to try Emarosa and don't own any of their recordings buy Relativity not this.
