They are indeed closer to "daylight" than the EcoSmart 4000K bulbs I had been using from Home Depot, but I don't have the equipment to actually verify the color temperature or brightness. The bulbs go to half brightness and then what appears to be full brightness in less than a second, so it should be fast enough for you unless you need a truly instant-on bulb. Keep in mind that all CFLs can take 10-15 minutes to fully warm up and get to the rated brightness. But like I said, the bulbs subjectively appear to be fully bright within 1 second, any increases after that are small and beyond my ability to notice.

I don't care for heat, would prefer workiing with LEDs but time will tell.
I don't have the lamps these will sit in permanently yet. I tested them in a small lamp I have to make sure they work and aren't defective. One thing I noted but didn't think about before hand was the heat they will generate. Now I think I should use LED lights if photographing with these over prolonged periods. I wanted strong lights to use for macro photography of jewelry and other small items and noticed you need quite a bit of light to get decent product photographs. I haven't used them with my camera yet but I am curious to know how they will work with mirrorless cameras and if I will have any problems such as banding. I have to say just on viewing the light in the evening with my lamp I didn't particularly care for the light quality and temperature but in photographs perhaps they will produce nicer pictures than I imagine. I will test them out later and if I have anything to add I will update this review.

Good bulb, how long will it last?
I like the bulb. I use it in my everyday/reading lamp and I noticed the benefit right away. I think it is as good as my dedicated (but old) full spectrum lamp. Downside is It lasted exactly the warranty period, but then again I have it on for more than three hours per day...so overall I am favorably inclined towards this product. For comparison when it burned out all I had was a "regular" bright white 26watt replacement...it seemed harsh compared to this full-spectrum light, I couldn't wait to replace it with the other full-spectrum bulb (I had purchased two, the secondmone was hiding, I couldn't find it for a while!).

Works and is compact
Purchases to use in an bathroom fan/light. I also tried a phillips LED bulb that was was daylight rated and 100 watt equivalent. The LED is noticeably brighter and whiter. There is nothing wrong with this bulb and it is relatively compact so it would fit in the fixture. Some of the 100 watt equivalent bulbs are very large. I may use this bulb somewhere else in my home.

Like the Whiteness of the Light
This bulb produces a light that is very white (high color temperature). You may or may not like this. I certainly do as it seems closer to natural daylight. I prefer it to the somewhat yellow color of incandescent light bulbs and most CFL bulbs. We have two lamps on the outside of are garage that light the driveway and front of the house. We're using these bulbs in each of the lamps. The extra whiteness seems to make everything much more visable. The lamps are run all evening and being outdoors are subject to temperatures that can get a little below freezing. So far, they've worked fine. We've only been using the bulbs a couple of months so I can't comment on their reliability. As the saying goes, so far so good.

not strong, but are cheap enough to get at least a few
these are not strong enough with just one,so I recommend at least three for a mid size plant.but are at a great price compared to others.put off some heat but are safe ,just make sure they have a little room to avoid fire.happy with overall

LIFE IS NOT MUCH LONGER
With all the Hoop-La about CFL, I equipped my office with them. They illuminate very nicely and put out a lot less heat! I laugh to myself when I found they they contain, according to the EPA, several harmful substances! The old incandescent bulbs contained no harmful substances, but their efficiency was poor. The CFLs cost a lot more than the incandescent bulbs, and DON'T LAST SIGNIFICENTLY LONGER to justify the added cost! One thing that I do like about CFLs, is the higher color temperatures available. I enjoy the bright white light as opposed to the yellowish light produced by the incandescent bulbs.

Burned out in less than a year.
Purchased 2 of these bulbs on April 7, 2018. I use them to light my succulent plants during the day. One of the bulbs has already burned out as of January 19th. It shows lots of yellow burn mark discoloration around the tube indicating this burned out way faster than it should have. Only reason I didn't mark it lower is because, while it worked, it was a good bulb.
