Is your pony not responding... press a button he has on the top of his tail to avoid a disappointed child.
My 4 year old son asked for this toy for his Birthday. This is a great toy of about 45cm approx. height but it does not stand up, as it's legs are soft. So the total height is reduced to 35cm approx. I would have personally preferred if the pony was able to stand up but no, the legs are floppy. It has a soft fury material but the body is hard due to the mechanism inside. This toy is very, very cute. I especially love his eyes (almond shaped) and the way it moves his little ears.To turn it on you insert the batteries, switch the button in his belly to "on" (under the Velcro), press the sensor/button situated in the top of his tail for about 3 seconds and start interacting with him with the carrot, tapping his head, brushing him…Please note when you receive it, once released and out of the box, it comes with no batteries. So have a small star head screwdriver ready and 4 x AA batteries (standard big ones)I have found the batteries to last for a month or so you better stock up and buy a big pack.In case it helps, I bought a very good deal on Amazon, here's the link. Kodak AA Xtralife Alkaline Battery (Pack of 60) The noises it makes sound very realistic and if it wasn't because his ears sound (very mechanical) it would even be a very "real" experience-If you want him to feel happy, hungry or sad - Use the magnet based toys. The carrot and the brush that comes with the PonyIf your child's pony has never been scared / frightened or if you have a son like I do that wishes to see him shake in fear just for the sake on seeing everything his little Pony can do, then this are the steps to follow;-You must play with him for a while, feed him, brush him etc…-Then clap your hands and see him flap his ears all frightened (bless)I must add it will not get frightened if you haven't previously played with him for a little while. As an overall this is a good quality toy but I have found that my son has got bored of him just after a month's play. But never mind… that’s kids right?! ;)PROSMaterialRealistic noisesFun for our little onesCute DesignCONSYou must read the instructions or your child will not be able to turn it on and will feel disappointedIt would have been helpful if the box had the basics steps to "wake him" etc illustrated on the backWould I buy this product again?YesI hope my review has been helpful to you, thanks for reading.

Works well if you read the instructions!
My daughter was very keen to have Toffee Pony and having bought Milky for her for Christmas we were a bit reluctant to have another animated toy especially as the reviews mentioned it was difficult to operate and that it didn't do much. However, much pester power later we purchased this and it came very well wrapped and ahead of scheduled delivery. It was very clear from the front page of the accompanying booklet how to operate it. Being a battery operated toy it makes sense for this to have a 'sleep mode' otherwise it would need powering to the mains as it would constantly run out of power! Once the batteries are inserted into the stomach area you need not open it again. To 'awaken' it after play simply press the sensor/button situated in the top of his tail for about 3 seconds, this is shown in the third 'bubble' or instruction. Once `awake' he responds to different things, the carrot and the brush operate him with 'magnets' creating happy/sad/hungry motions. The 'noise' required to upset him is basically to clap your hands once he's finished a little session of neighing for example, if you do it mid cycle it won't work. It's quite easy really....childs play! Now for the pony itself. It is well made and tactile with lovely detail, if I could find one fault it is that he doesn't stand up he is permanently lying down the legs are very floppy and you need to position these carefully to have him stay `upright' but you can't have everything. I think for £42 this is a good value present and we are certainly pleased with it but wouldn't want to add to the collection as there are only so many animated cuddly toys. If you are wondering about buying something like this but don't want to jump in financially the smaller Animagic toys would be a good benchmark as to whether or not your youngster would be interested in this type of toy. All round, does what it says on the tin, especially if you read the enclosed instructions!

Much better than the Fur Real pets
I brought a Fur Real cat for my daughter and was unhappy with it as it broke the same day, so as her birthday is a week before Christmas, decided to buy her this pony just a week later. It was with some trepidation...However, I LOVE this pony! It is really rebust, there are not any delicate parts that you feel could snap with a little loving from small children and it interacts with them nicely. That said, I did have to you tube what to do with this pony as I couldn't get it to work properly at first....There is a hidden button in the tail that switches it on/off. If the pony is not interacted with constantly it does go into sleep mode. But I like this idea as it saves the batteries and my daughter had a short attention span when she first had it.It is lovely to watch her feed it and she does like to look after it too, with grooming and stoking it. The eyes are lovely and they blink and she neighs. It's a really sweet toy.I would have no hesitation to let her take this to bed (switching the tail off first - I'm not mad, as it is so soft and there would be no worry of bits breaking off or hurting her in her sleep. This could not be said for the Fur real pets. I think they are aimed at 6+, whereas this I would happily give to an 18 month +I would recommend

great toy will give your little one hours of fun
This Pony was the best present that my daughter (4yrs) got for her Christmas. She takes it with her everywhere. No matter where she goes, it comes along. Whether its visiting grandparents or attending dance class. She even sleep with it, each and every night. So whats to special about this toy.First off, its the interactive part.It comes with a carrot and brush. When you brush it, the pony reacts to it.When the carrot are presented to the mouth part, its starts chewing sounds and the mouthpiece moves, so it seems and sounds like its actually eating. And then you can scare it. Make any really loud sounds close by, and it gets shocked. This is absolutely a fabulous toy, and the price is quite fair, comparing to how many hours of joy its given.
