Might be ok in the USA or if you are just going to work through from the very beginning but I'm going to look for something with an index. This is a real pain.

Well written and informative.
DUMMIES========First off, I'm not too fussed with the name of these range of books. That said, they're a very successful series, but for me I'd prefer them to be called simplified (not for simpletons).SENIORS========I know I sound like I'm moaning but I also dislike the moniker, "seniors". It's a little too American for my liking.THE BOOK=========Despite the above I tested this on my 75 year old dad who has had an iPhone for a few years now. (usually a hand me down)I wanted him to have a guidebook so that he could get more from it. I read the book and discovered loads of bits that I hadn't used with my iPhone and knew my dad would gain something from the book.DAD====He gave it 7 out of 10ME===I thought I was an iPhone expert as I've had one since there first edition. However I found a few gaps with the book. As such I'd give it 8/10.OVERALL========Well written and informative.

A good primer for beginners
.The first generation iPhone was released on June 29, 2007; the most recent iPhone model is the iPhone 7, which was unveiled at a special event in 2016. Apple's methodology was to purposely make simpler its product line by proposing just one model a year for all consumers while making it an expensive, high-end product. For those of you who are entering the information superhighway late in life and have children or grandchildren who know more about smartphone market than you do, then welcome to the “iPhone for Seniors For Dummies”. The iPhone was designed as a robust OS with proficiencies such as multitasking and graphics in order to meet future consumer demands. This title is also a good designed for beginners of all ages, and for those of us who have not grown up in a computer world. This is a rather useful guide for the uninitiated. What is here is a guide that is set out in an understandable form, and where the language is not too technical in nature. The Dummies guide walks you through, using a gradual' methodology through the fundamentals, and gets you started on the right foot. This guide tackles topics such as how to perform Internet browsing and e-mail communication, virtual keyboard, how to play multimedia and browse photos collections, and play games. As with all Dummies titles, the simple ethos is to give the reader a simple framework with layperson terms to work through and making the text and the information as reader friendly as it can. This title will be mostly enjoyed by those readers who know nothing or very little about iPhone..

Helps you Get the Most From Your iPhone 7.
iPhone for Seniors For Dummiesby Dwight Spivey is a good book for those who want to get the best from their I phone 7s.As it title suggests- it's directed towards Seniors. As a senior I must admit I do find the 'Dummies' tag a bit of an insult. The suggestion is that if you are a dummy or a senior why would you get an I phone 7?Right grumbles over.Like quite a few people my age I have picked my knowledge up as I have gone along and I must admit quite a bit of misinformation. What this book will do is fill the gaps in your knowledge and, this is the best aspect of the book, let you know a whole lot of features that you either did not know existed. And the I phone 7 has loads of them. All in all it is good book that will help you get the best out of your I phone 7.

I didn't know what I didn't know!
I am a bit embarrassed to write this review and admit to loving this book. Firstly, I am not a senior but perhaps I am a dummy. I also have had an iphone since the first model. With that in mind, I thought this would be a good book for my 84 year old mother who was buying an iPhone. Unfortunately for her, she never got it as I kept it! I didn't know what I didn't know! I have learned so much from this book about my phone and its many amazing features. I have learned how to speak texts and in fact any text such as email. I have used SIRI to full advantage and I can take screen shots. I am still working my way through this amazing information trove and am shocked by how little I knew about my phone. The book is well laid out and structured and to be honest there is loads of information that is very basic but it takes you through it all with clear pictures and descriptions of how to go about the task. I have read For Dummies on a variety of subjects and I love them but in many ways this is even better; the print is big and it makes no assumptions. As always it is accessible, informative, well-structured and easy to read.I thoroughly recommend this book for anyone who suspects they are not using their iPhone to its full capacity. You can dip in and out as it is clearly indexed and, therefore, read only what you need.

Grandma is troubleshooting on her own!
I bought this book for my grandparents (late 70s) who recently got new iPhones. My grandma has had an iPhone for four year but she simply used it for calling and texting. My grandpa used his old one for just calling and was always frustrated by it. Both of them have no read this book from cover to cover and are so much more confident in using all the features of their phones. My grandma even had an issue that she texted me about and before I had the chance to respond, she had gone into the book and troubleshot the issue herself. I'd say it's a must have book for seniors!

Next to useless
I bought this book before buying my first iPhone. I hoped it would help me setting up the iPhone and getting familiar with it. I knew it was a big book, but I expected it to be sufficiently well organized to permit me to read only the necessary parts and then come back later for more. The book did not meet my expectations. While it has a section explaining how to choose an iPhone which I did not need, it keeps mum on the beginning and important set-up decisions. To follow the very first explanations on how to use the iPhone one has to have it already activated, so I had to guess my settings and leave to the future how to optimize them. After that I spend several hours over a couple of days trying to wade through the first verbose chapters and eventually gave up and proceeded to explore the features I need in the iPhone by trial and error. While tempted to thrash the book, I still kept it for when I will have much more time on my hands, hoping to find at least a few useful tips.

Almost, but not quite, dumb enough for this Senior
This book is somewhat helpful, but would have been perfect if there had been a glossary. Every other word is tech-speak, a language that I do not know. What does "sync" mean? Exactly what is a "message?" A phone call, a text, a voice mail---or something else? What, exactly do you do to your finger to "flick" it? Also, rather than describe the icon being discussed in a new section, a large picture of it would do far better. I had to go back to the picture of the "home page," get out my magnifying glass to read the teensy text under each icon, then draw a picture of it in the chapter I was reading to match the description, for future reference and review..

Great for my 78 year old Mom
I purchased this for my 78 year old mother, who has her first smart phone -- and it is an Apple. She had no familiarity with Apple products (she is well-versed in Microsoft Windows) and she has found this book easy to understand/follow and very helpful. Again, however, my mother is a retired CPA who is very experienced with computers. So I can't say how this will work for people who have no idea about computers.

Clear instructions for I Phone at last
Excellent book. Very clear instructions and very easy to understand. It was not wordy or fuzzy at all. Extremely good value.

Might be a useful book for geeks.
The book contains a lot of technical jargon and assumes that the reader is quite familiar with basic phone functions, most of which remain occult despite the book. It has few intelligible "how to" features which would be valuable. The use of the telephone is difficult and frequently almost impossible due to the helpful screens which keep appearing. Although I've had the phone for about a month I am still unable to text effectively, and I must say that I am disappointed that Siri is usually of no help. Unfortunately, I waited too long to return it for a flip phone.
