Look for a better one if you can
This product is probably the only thing I bought on Amazon that actually isn’t garbage for it’s price. The paint chipped off after dropping it multiple times. But you should get this if your looking for a cheap straight razor

Dont use double razors that you have to break
Love the razor due to sturdiness, only thing I dont like is it is hard to put the razor in and if you use razors you have to break the dont fit, which the razors that came with the razor holder I can not use in this razor because of the flaps on the razor when it is broken, other than that I love the razor

Very good purchase
As a Shavette it's pretty nice, i have no complaints on it. Besides that the item description is wrong, it does not come with the 10 Derby blades, so just make sure to buy some, i bought the 100 count derby blades and they fit just nice, i have read some reviews saying the razors don't hold but mine fits perfectly, the razor doesn't move a bit

Great once you know how to use the razors
the bnlades it came with were double sided and I didn't know that you had to bend them in half for it to fit so I was frustrated by the fact the instructions it came with didn't mention that but once I figured it out its a nice razor

Its good but had few scrathes on it when I moved the outer flip
Its good but had few scratches on it when I moved the outer flip. I am not sure why there were scratches when product was new. Do you people check product before shipping? I hope this is not used one. I thought so, and kept it dipped in antiseptic liquid for hours before using.Shaving experience is good though.

Flexible with motion and clean shave.
I like this foldable shaver but takes a lot of work to repairs the razor. Razor are bit easy to slip off the foldable razor.

So far so good. Some of the reviews about getting the blade ...
So far so good. Some of the reviews about getting the blade on there being difficult are slightly true, but it should be pretty easy once you get the hang of it. After the first try really. Fits well in your hand, and is a pretty good looking straight edge!

Great First Time Razor
Really like this razor, loaded it with a Derby blade and for my first attempt with a straight razor it did a brilliant job. I would definitely recommend this if you are starting out with a straight razor. It looks amazing with the metal matt black finish and it’s weighty making you feel as you have a quality.I bought the razor for detailing but the barber messed up my beard so I clean shaved with this. I had a tiny nick but as I said earlier it was my first go of using a straight razor and the technique wasn’t there.Brilliant product just take your time with installing the razor blade, and when shaving put very little pressure on your face. Take your time and YouTube a shaving video or two before you start :-)

Nice ‘razor holder’, easy to use (see warning!)
As a newbie to shaving with a straight razor, it’s a very different experience to a safety razor! As a ‘razor handle’ this works well, it’s easy to hold, bends easily on the hinge but isn’t loose. I’m not holding it in a particular way but it just seems to work.I brought ‘Derby Extra Double Razor blades’ (also on Amazon) to go with it. As they snap in two, they can buckle slightly which makes them harder to slot in. Therefore, it’s much easier to set the razor up while your hands are dry.A word of warning:Using a straight razor is not about ‘not cutting yourself’ while you are shaving as I thought, that’s relatively easy but if you do get a small nick it usually goes away within the day or so.The real thing to watch out for is pushing with the razor which leaves marks on your skin like grazes - they can be painful for a few days and still be visible up-to a week later.Luckily I learnt this on the first shave. I used clean witch hazel gel as the lubricant. I cut one side of my neck and gave it some good grazes shaving with the grain but eased up as I went on to other side. I returned to the first side to go against the grain and gave myself a few more grazes. The second shave, I had a lighter touch - I went all over once with the grain, reapplied lubricant and went all over again with the grain s second time. No cuts or marks but still a nice clean finish.

... conventional razors and I bought this product for the great reviews it had
I have long been disatisfied with the price of conventional razors and I bought this product for the great reviews it had. After purchase (but before arrival of the product), I started gathering more information about shavettes and they have all made me worried that this was a mistake, as I have never used "cut throat" razors before.I only use it to shave my neck as I grow a trimmed beard and have so far only used it once. It was a bit awkward, of course, but the shave was no worse than what I could acchieve with a conventional 4 bladed razor. I am looking forward to giving it another try and while money isnt everything, am quite happy to know I will save a lot.As for product itself, I, too had chipped paint, but I did not try to have it exchanged for a new one as it is just minor chips. Blade fitting was a bit fiddly, and it slipped out for me slightly. This was easily fixed by pushing it in with attached leather pouch and it held firm since. As others have said, the matt black really does make you feel manly!

Easy to use and replace blades and feels secure once ...
Bought this as I’m getting into the gentleman’s grooming.Bought a couple of DE razors over last two years. Once I got used to them i’ve Been enjoying the shaving experience and thought it was time for an upgrade to the next step. This razor takes the standard DE blades, just snapped in half.Easy to use and replace blades and feels secure once blades have been fitted.Easy to clean and maintain. After a couple of uses the resistance of the hinge blade arm and the handle is a little too easy and handle can swing about if you lose the grip. Not getting a close shave with it but that’s a me issue rather than a product, as only used it three times and still finding my feel for this type of shaving.Plans are to go for a traditional straight razor for now I’m using this as a training tool, but would be happy to using this if it was perminant razor.

Insignificant flaws, good for price.
I would give 4.5 as the only flaw was in the "leather case" and slightly more complex then necessary to replace blades. I've read alot of comments about chips and scratches on the handle. Mine is flawless. Also read about loose blades etc., and I've not had that issue at all.Now for the negatives. You slide the lock off first, and then slide the holding pieces apart. That second part is a bit complex as it requires use of both hands which is risky when there is a blade in situ. The "leather pouch" I dont think is leather and even before I took the handle out I could see that the interior cover/surface was peeling off and on examination seems like a production issue. Not enough or high quality glue. But for sub £10 I dont expect perfection in all areas. All in all I thought it's a brilliant little product. I just snap my astra blades and it works perfectly. Make sure you know what you're doing when using cut throat!
