EzFoto 52mm Tilted Vented Metal Lens Hood Shade for Leica, Contax Zeiss, Voigtlander Lens

This lens shade is reminiscent of the ones used on the wide angle lenses of old Leica M rangefinder cameras. In those cameras, the slots had a purpose, to have the rangefinder camera "see" the f stops on the lens. In this case, this inexpensive shade protects somewhat from flare hitting the lens, but the slots on the shade still let in some of the flare to hit the lens. This can be remedied with black gaffers tape.

Decided to add this hood to my lens even if it does defeat the purpose of it being a "pancake". Nevertheless, it does it's job as far as shading any direct sunlight into the glass. It's built well, has a nice satin black finish...but if you're a perfectionist with how things line up, you may not like it once it's screwed into place. I'm guessing this is specific to the use on the given lens of your choice, but on the Canon 40mm Pancake, the cut out slots don't line up symmetrically after it's confidently seated. It was kind of a bummer at first, but I got over it quickly. So, with that said, you may want to look into the other 52mm "straight" lens hood if the latter disturbs you.Oh, and BTW...you may want to pick up a center pinch style lens cap if you still want to keep the hood in place along with a cap. It's a pain to place and remove the original outer clasp style.

Hood is about what I was expecting except that it is not ACTUALLY a 52mm Hood. It is a 58mm Hood that been adapted to 52mm with a ring. Not that big of a deal, but it would have been nice if they would have mentioned that in the description.

This lens hood blocks my lens and cuts off the corners of my photos

Great concept, but on a 28mm lens on a crop body, it will vignette at the corners. Other wise, it is great.

I installed this onto canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM.My feeling was without this hood, the appearance seemed to be very cheap.I expected this for lens' protection and coolness.It's better design than OEM one.

Works as needed but with 49mm screw on which may pose a problem for those wanting a quicker bayonet type.
