The tool to have for crimping closed barrel DT connectors
This is actually the second iCrimp product I bought in the span of about 2-3 days. If you are doing any wiring work, and using Deutsch connectors as a part of that solution, this is the crimping tool to use if you are using closed barrel connectors. Makes quick and accurate work.

DT barrel crimper
This is the third one of this brand of barrel crimper I have purchased. The first was for a contact size 20 - bought in error for AWG 20 wire - nope, #20 is the DT connector contact size, and it’s not commonly used.Next I bought the size 16 barrel crimper for AWG 14-18. Works well. Has a cylinder on the back to hold the contact in the right position for crimping. Does a good job. Then I bought this one because I want to crimp finer wire. This one is rated for crimping 16-20 AWG. The wire I’m crimping is not marked but it must be smaller that 20awg because I can’t get a good crimp on it unless I double it in the connector. And this crimper 16-20awg, does not have the connector pin holding cylinder on the back. This means you have to position and hold the connector pin with a light squeeze of the crimper and then fuss with the wire. Not as elegant. Also, the markings on the 16-20awg crimp tool are clearly different than the 14-18awg crimper, but the jaws don’t “seem” to crimp any tighter on the smallest setting. I can not verify this detail because I don’t have needle calipers or a force gauge measurement probe that could make an accurate comparison. So this perception is subjective.A lot of control signal and sensor wiring is in the 20-24awg range and 22awg seems quite common. Having access to small quantities of the DT size 20 components for the lighter AWG wire might be a nice offering.
