Quality Poultry Restraining Cone; Please Use with Respect and Compassion
I bought this item believing the price to be excessive. However, its generous size, heavy-duty metal construction, solid seam and dual mounting holes have convinced me I will never need to buy another killing cone. This one is large enough to accommodate even my 14-week-old Cornish X birds securely. In addition, it is easy to clean with rag and hose. My only complaint is that the two mounting holes were so large I had to add washers to the "16-penny" nails I used.

Well assembled, nice finishing but not big enough for my hybrid cockerals or miniature turkeys
I used this yesterday when we processed some Peking duck hens, miniature turkeys and two backyard hybrid hens- it worked well for the hens and ducks but it was too small for the Turkeys. The weight description indicates it should be fine for the miniature turkeys - it was too small (too much turkey sticking out the top!). In all fairness my turkeys appeared pretty big - I didn't weigh them so I may have just hatched some mutants? The cone is really well made! My dad worked with lots of rolled stainless steal while I was growing up. We made those cone type fire places (think 1970s) and a standing ridge roof- plus counter tops and cookie sheets. The workmanship on this cone is nice - spot welds and rolled edges. Well worth the price for the work that's put into them.

Solid and well built, will last you a lifetime.
Solidly built murder, errr, processing cone that will last you forever. You don't have to worry about the galvanized coating wearing off and rusting because this is stainless steel, which is absolutely easy to clean and sanitize. Welds are good and the gauge on the stainless sheet metal is tough (not sure exactly what gauge it is, but it's definitely not easy to bend with your hand). Made here in USA.

This cone is too small for meat birds. I ...
This cone is too small for meat birds. I raised Cornish X to a weight of 6-8 lbs dressed. This cone is too narrow and I had to cut it down in order for it to work properly. That said, it is constructed very well and the materials are top notch. Just go with an M3 cone for your Cornish X.

Worked Very Well, Well Made
It's hard to be too enthusiastic about a kill cone, but it made processing my chickens much easier! I wish I'd had some way to hold up their feet, or a smaller cone, since my birds were able to tuck their feet under them, up by their heads, which seemed to allow them to struggle uncomfortably. It was a challenge to hold their feet, and their heads and cut the throat with only two hands. I'm sure I could have worked something up . . . but with only ten birds to process, I made due.

Pretty good and helpful cone.
this cone is a good shape and works fine for our larger meat chickens or roosters but is too big to use on our egg layers. We attached to a portable stand that we made for ease of use. It is a 5 if using with the correct size poultry.

They fit nicely into the cone
Used my cone this past weekend to butcher my 4 meat chickens. This is my first year raising chickens, so was a little anxious about the whole process. I hunt, so I wasn't worried about the butchering part, but didn't want to do the "old" fashioned way of chopping their heads off on a wood stump and have the bodies twitching and "running" around the yard. This solves that problem. They fit nicely into the cone, they are very calm when they are upside down (which amazes me). It was a little heart wrenching to have to cut their necks in order to kill them first. You do get attached in spite of yourself. But the cone definitely made the job a little easier. Thank you for this product.

Not Quite Big Enough for Big Chickens
First off, I want to say that the 3 stars are not for the quality of the product, which is solid 4 or 5 stars. I want my review to attract people so they don't make the same mistake as me. I read some reviews and somebody had said it was big enough for 20 lbs. turkeys. I read that review and bought this thinking it was surely big enough for my chickens. No way. I raise Bresse, a culinary meat bird, and the cockerels I'm butchering are no bigger than 7 lbs live. Their heads do not drop through. I have to pull them through and hang onto to heads to prevent them from turtle heading back into the cone. Same for my Marans and Sussex. It's my understanding I shouldn't have to pull on a chicken's head to keep it outside of the cone. I also have to hold on to the feet after cutting off the head to prevent them from flopping back out of the cone. I will use this because it's better than having blood spray everywhere, but I'm disappointed that the heads don't drop through and that the birds aren't more immobilized. If you're going to get this product for processing standard sized dual purpose LF or slow maturing meat breeds, don't get this cone. I would return for an M3 if I could do it again, but I doubt they'll let me swap out a used killing cone. There is nothing wrong with this product, only the ridiculous sizing reviews.
