Worked great for ATF change
I bought this to do an ATF fluid change on a vehicle with 108k miles. I didn't know when the last time the previous owner had it's ATF changed, so I decided to get this pump. After reading mixed reviews on here I was not expecting much, but to my surprise this little pump did very well and was worth the price. I pumped right at 3.5 quarts from the dipstick and refilled. The car shifts great.I will say that I have a hunch as to why some of these pumps are burning up. I pumped my ATF, COLD. I turned the car on and idled it no more than 5 minutes. Shifted through all of the gears and then turned it off. Maybe some of these pumps are burning up from the oil being too hot and that was my theory, so I went with my gut and pumped it cold, and I had no issues. Again this was for ATF, so if you are pumping a heavy oil, then running it for around 10 minutes to thin it out some would be a good idea. The manual states not to have too hot of oil. If you are pumping out a lightweight oil like 5w20 or 5w30, pumping it cold should be good enough. If you are pumping out a heavier weight oil, then driving it some to get it warmed up would probably be a good idea, just keep in mind that too hot of oil could burn these little pumps up. Overall this pump did what I got it for, and I couldn't be happier.

Fast
I bought this because the drian plug head stripped. Bought a bolt extractor set, stripped it even more. Saw this and thought I would give it a try since it was cheaper than a mechanic. Worked great! Probably got out as much as a quick oil change place. I usually let it drip for awhile when I get the plug out, but this car leaks and burns some. This was a big help and $ saver

Poor quality - ran for 30 seconds
I purchased this in preparation for spring tune up on marine units. Hooked it up to the 12v battery and it ran for 20-30 seconds and cut off. The positive wire was very hot so I suspect it overheated. Let to cool and still does not come on. Got zero use of the unit. Poor quality!! Outside the 30 day return window so likely my loss.

Great pump. Read and heed the warnings in the manual though.
This made changing oil in my lawn mowers very easy! The old oil was pumped out in less than a minute. It actually took more time to refill the mower with oil than it did to pump it out. I should have read the manual though. I learned the hard way that you shouldn't use it to pump water! I ruined a perfectly good pump!

Amazingly fast and efficient oil change tool, should have bought one years ago.
I've always used a pneumatic hand pump to change my oil until my second one broke way too soon. I bought this pump and it was the EASIEST and fastest oil change I've ever done! Follow the simple instructions and you'll be done in no time. My Audi Q7 holds 7.2 quarts of oil and it was out in less than 2 minutes. I ran some clean oil through it to "clean" it and store it until next time. My feeling is, even if it stops working after 3 or 4 changes, it is still way cheaper than the hand pumps I had purchased and MUCH faster.

So far so good.... could use a few simple improvments...................
This is my second small electric engine oil pump. The first one, a different brand, but still available on Amazon, developed an internal leak after less than 10 uses. It made a big mess after that every time I used it, but I put up with it because I wanted to get my money out of it. Let's see if this one holds up any better. My guess is that they are both made by the same Chinese orphanage. My five complaints.:A. Changing oil with a pump like this tends to be a messy job. It's virtually inevitable you will end up with oily, slippery hands. The handle on the pump is not designed for this type of use. A. It is too short. B. It is too smooth textured. C. It doesn't have some kind of a knob or protrusion at its end to prevent slipping thru your hand. At a minimum some ridges in the handle might improve it dramatically in this respect.B. The small intake hose crimps at the pump end where the diameter necks down. It needs better strain relief and to be made of material which can hold up to moderately hot engine oil, ATF, etc. without going soft. The outlet hose has a similar issue, but since it is a larger diameter it does not create as much of a nuisance as the smaller intake hose.C. The flow direction arrows on the pump housing are large, but barely visible since they are the same color as the housing. Why can't they be made black or another contrasting color?D. At least this pump came with an instruction sheet. Most items I buy like this do not come with any instructions at all. However, the instruction sheet has but one substantive illustration, but it is so small as to be useless. Diagrams or photos needed, especially for assembly.E. The alligator clips on the battery cable are too close together for a regular size auto battery. I had to strip back the outer jacket to get enough spread between them to attach them to the battery cables. On the positive side the flow volume was OK for changing ATF thru the dip stick tube. It took about 3 or 4 minutes to pump about 3-4 pints of ATF.
