We can enjoy our large covered patio even on the hottest summer days!
Our covered backyard patio that was once a sweat shop is now a cool oasis! We previously purchased a much smaller portable evaporative cooler that just couldn't cut on hot days. We visited a friend who had the larger version of this and literally came home and found this one after reading reviews and ordered it the same day. Our friends and family love to come sit on our patio and sip drinks when it's 101 degrees outside. This thing is a beast and churns out cool air by the ton and we love the "swing" option so the air flows back and forth across the entire patio. Our chickens love it too! On really hot days we connect the hose, you don't have to, but it does go through water pretty quick if set on medium with the pump set to high. With the hose connected and turned on really low the built in float keeps the water at the perfect level so we can leave the evaporative cooler running all afternoon and evening during really hot summer days. I work from home and love to work on my patio, but it just gets too hot during peak summer season. In northern Utah the summers are dry and hot, averaging between 95-103 from late June through mid-August. I would die without this portable evaporative cooler! It comes fully assembled in a rather large box and you just have to install the rolling casters, which is quick and easy. Then fill it up with water turn it on and enjoy the amazingly cool air. This is a pretty powerful unit, our covered patio area is about 12' x 17' so it's a decent size area and this handles that space beautifully. I highly recommend! No more budget oscillating fans on the patio, now we enjoy our patio even on the hottest summer days! Thank you Hessaire! This would be fantastic in a garage or shop as well!

It's certainly better than just a fan!
Although this isn't an air conditioner (and therefore doesn't use the amount of power an A/C unit does) it is quite a bit better than just a fan. It does make the room a bit more humid than I'd like (which is totally expected as it is an evaporative cooler), and it is MUCH larger than I thought it would be, it definitely takes the edge off on a hot day and I am glad I bought it. The water sensor (as others have pointed out) is pretty much useless -- it seems to show a level (inaccurately) from time to time, but other times it shows empty when it has just been filled and vice versa. It is not super noisy (but not that quiet either). The wheels came with washers that are the wrong size (bit too large in outer diameter) which means the wheels don't swivel as easily as they could, but by the time we realized that, we'd filled it with water and it was too heavy to up-end to fix it. My husband said with the right washers, the wheels will be fine. When we run it dry, we'll swap them out. I do like the fact that you can choose an intermittent pump setting (which means, for indoor use, the humidity is a bit less)...we are using reverse osmosis water in ours as we have EXTREMELY hard water. The family members had to have a bit of a training lesson in that you must have the unit in front of an open door or window AND you must open a window or door across the house to pull the air through and out . . but the air is fresher than a A/C unit and I certainly don't have the electricity bill I would have if we used an A/C unit. Overall I do recommend. It is rather ugly and very large though. LOL.

I like it now that I have fixed the water leaks.
This is my first evaporative cooler, so on the first hour of operation I was thinking that the water spraying thru the fan was maybe the normal startup as the drip pads became saturated. But after an hour, with the front grill dripping lots of water, I started looking thru the grill with a powerful flashlight and could see a stream of water pouring from one of the water distribution tubes located on the inside top of the unit. I proceeded to remove the back cover and filter and repaired said hose with some black electrical tape. I then also discovered a leak from one of the water distribution panels. A bit of glue got that one plugged and now the unit is putting out cooled air without it also doubling as a poorly operating mister. Hessaire customer service is sending new water distribution tubes and they said I should use silicon cement to fix the other leak. The unit is now producing cool air and keeping a small apartment (~500sqft) comfortable for my mother-in-law. I would have rated this a four star, maybe even a five star, but the defects upon delivery negates those ratings. The fixes were easy enough to achieve and I did those only because it arrived on the hottest day of this year and I really felt it was important to get some cooling air into the apartment. Otherwise I would have immediately repacked and returned it.However, in all fairness, this is a very basic cooling device that does work as advertised. Essentially a box fan with the addition of drip panels that provide the evaporative cooling action. Simple construction, nearly all plastic, light weight, easy to move with the castor wheels. It is relatively quiet, about the same noise level of a low cost standalone fan. Ten gallon water tank filled from the front. Use a flower watering can or anything with a long pour spout to avoid water spills. It is also possible to attach a water hose. Customer service was easy to reach and they had no issue with sending me the needed parts. Not explained well in the manual, the variable water pump feature cycles the water pump, 10 min on then 10 min off, to reduce water consumption and air moisture. So, for $300, not a bad deal over all, but it may require some customer tweaking upon arrival.
