Blue Paua Enhanced Adhesive Veneer (9.4" x 5.5" x 0.007")

I used this product for a guitar pickguard. It is easy to cut and easy to handle. Adhesive is very strong. The material does need to be polished. I used a rubbing compound, then polished. Added 2 coats of poly urethane and then 2 coats of wax. The finish is gorgeous!

The description states that it's 0.006 inches thick. Using a dial caliper, I measured the thickness after application at 0.012 inches, twice what was claimed. If the black adhesive backing is removed the thickness after application with super glue drops down to 0.009 inches. Also, if cut with scissors, the mother of pearl layer cracks. These aren't obvious from a distance but up close they can be seen. Using a craft knife with a razor sharp blade on a hard, flat surface avoids this. On the positive side, the colors are very bright. You get more green tones in warm lighting, which shifts towards blues and purples in daylight lighting.

I build guitars. This stuff is amazingly useful. Consistent quality. I have bought maybe 20 sheets. The adhesive is really good.
