4.5 stars
I received an ARC for an honest review. **warning possible spoilers alert***Jonas has been taken, caught unawares and is now in the hands of Nathanial and his gang who are gathering information in an effort to take on the Council and bring it down, whilst spilling the secrets of Stefan's people to the humans. Whilst there he's tortured by Emmy, who is half human but has been used as a blood slave. She's uses pain to try and get him to talk not knowing that for Jonas that's precisely what he's after. Emmy has had a hard time with the people she's with and is totally into Jonas and plots to help him escape. A fighter and ying to Jonas's Yang for sure. We also find out what happened to Darla from the earlier books. On the outside we have Sasha using all her resources to trace Jonas, and we a battle ensue that Cato's been warning about. She defo grows into her power here which is nice and learns new stuff. It's still fun, and fast paced but you could see that K.F was really trying to round out and tie up the story, so there is a few bits in there that you discover something new and wonder when it all happened and for how long was Jonas really gone for. As usual the connection between the guys was great and the story flowed.Although i totally loved this book, I just couldn't connect as i have done in previous books. I'd gotten used to only being in Sasha's head and i felt i was a spectator during this book. So that's why my 4.5 stars.I have totally loved this series and am really hoping that K. F decides to do another story just so i can see if anything ever develops between Charles and Ann, or if Sasha and Stefan moves up to regional or becomes part of the Council. It just seems there may be at least another book in there somewhere even if it's just a special for the fans.

Loved it!
I never give novellas five stars but this one really deserved it. Or maybe I was just excited to see how the main story arc of the series played out? I’ll let you decide.I loved getting a look into Jonas’ psyche. He’s a fascinating character and as Charles remarked in the previous novella, he’s done a complete one eighty since we first met him. Watching Emmy trying and failing to break him is entertaining in and of itself. I think the reason I loved this one so much is because Jonas and Emmy have a completely different relationship to Sasha and Stefan. And although I love Sasha and Stefan more, I find Jonas to be a far more interesting character. He’s a little broken, a little dark and a little sweeter than I ever realised. Watching as he connects with his torturer and finds a way out of the predicament he’s found himself in is absolutely brilliant. If you can’t stomach reading light BDSM though, then you might want to just skip over the steamer sections of this one. If you’ve been following the story from book 1 however, you won’t want to miss seeing the human/warrior dynamic come to fruition and how the Europeans react when the fight they’ve been planning to bring to the Council finds them first.Happy reading!

Passion and battles; this book has it all
This is book 7 in the Darkness series.Like the previous books, this one is filled with magic, a plethora of supernaturals, battles, explosions and more dungeon based steamy thrills than you can shake a stick at... or a whip or paddle. If you liked the rest of the series, you won't be disappointed.

Tall, dark and brooding finds his soul mate
We knew he would be dark, but the level of pain Jonas has been holding inside all these years is finally revealed, detailing his isolation and the knowledge he will be forever alone. And that's fine until he meets the beautiful but troubled Emmy. Jonas has no hangups, he takes what he wants without consequence, yet so far no one has been strong enough to sooth his needs. In Emmy he sees someone adept enough to take him on. But can he trust her and deal with the consequences? Both alone for so long with their anxieties, we cling to the possibility that together they can find a trust and affinity to gain hope for the future, while their world rages in a war around them, any semblance of a relationship seems unrealistic.I love this book, two troubled souls believing no one could help them. So messed up no one would understand their pain. Only another so messed up would be able to take on a darkness both mental and physical to ease the pain of loneliness.K. F. Been brings out the humour in a sexually charged, dangerous environment beautifully. This series shows you can have alpha males so different to the usual stereo type and Jonas is definitely an alpha apart. Not sure I could handle him but I'd love to know him.Fabulous world. I thoroughly recommend you read this giggle fest of a dangerous, sexy, sparky, magical series and immerse yourself in characters that live in the darkness and beyond.

Jonas My Favourite Hunk
This is the story I've been waiting to read, about Jonas (my all-time favourite hot hunk) and an insight into why he is the way he is. Thoroughly enjoyed this book, it sheds light onto what's going on and who their enemy is. Jonas gets captured and taken to the enemy's compound where he is tortured by Emmy a beautiful halfling working with the enemy. Emmy's past is painful with the threat of more if she cannot get Jonas to answer her questions. She tries everything she can to no avail and to boot it all ends up falling for Jonas (mind you, are you surprised, who wouldn't fall for him) and releases him and they both make a run for it, trying to get out before Sasha blows the place up trying to get to Jonas. I've loved this whole series, and can't wait for the next book, hopefully it's about Charles.

Kick Ar$e addition to the series
Okay, so I've had this book sitting in my 'To Read' folder for over a year because I'm clearly a terrible person because it was flipping fantastic! I'm so cranky I waited as long as I did (long story short, had intentions to read it quickly, put it to the side, forgot about it and purchased a kazillion other books in the meantime). The story picks straight up where Darkness #6 finished off, so if you haven't read the others, you need to. We find out who the nefarious group is intent on attacking Sasha and Stefan's clan and what they want. After being taken, Jonas is held in the dungeon of a cloaked compound where he is subjected to torture at the hands of the lovely Emmy, but being the deliciously sick individual he is, he gets off on it and it impressed by her finesse and skills. Emmy has never had someone resist her techniques before like Jonas, nor has she had someone who genuinely cares about her as a person as she is virtually a prisoner herself. They form a bond, all the while Sasha and the gang are on their way. This book had a great chunk of action that was great to read. I expected this book to be mostly from Jonas' point of view so it was fantastic to read a lot of it from Sasha's viewpoint as well. I loved this as it kept the momentum and feeling from the previous books at the forefront and reacquainted me with Sasha, reminding me why she's such as great heroine. Jonas is one of my favourite characters from the Darkness series and the brief insight into why he's so surly and aggressive was a nice touch, as was seeing a slightly softer side to him. The book was a bit brief, obviously, because it is a novella size, but it still packed a decent punch. We get to touch base with the main characters from the series and Emmy was a nice, likeable addition.I won't spoil what happens, but the ending has small glimpse into the future for our favourite clan members. This was also a great touch for a massive fan of K.F. Breene (who is now feeling like a giant traitor for not reading this book sooner! Shame!).Now I just need to pull my finger out and get onto reading Charles. Bad Queen Breene fan! Bad!

Brilliant series
I have given this book 5 stars but in my heart it's really 4 & 3/4 stars simply because it was from Jonas' perspective a lot of the time. This wouldn't normally bother me but it was the last book in the series and I missed the main character Sasha and her interaction with Charles, Jonas, Anne and Stephan. It is still a great book but I would have liked to see one more in the series where the gang was back together kicking butt. I know they did this at the end of this book but it wasn't quite the same. If you haven't read any of this series and like paranormal romance, action, adventure then you will love this novella series. It's a great read! Just sad the ride came to an end.
