Montlake Romance Butterfly in Frost

When time helps to heal wounds...
Sylvia Day's novella 'Butterfly in Frost' is a tasteful and moving (and sometimes sexy!) exploration of feelings and situations that many of us can find ourselves in to varying degrees. It's the story of Teagan and Garrett, both individuals that have lost a lot, and are slowly but surely rebuilding their lives in their own ways. Their connection is instant, their chemistry off the charts, and though they have their difficulties, they made me laugh, even as they made my heart ache. And the final development had me on the edge of my seat, hoping everything would work out, just wanting to reach into the story and offer hugs and a listening ear. Getting to see just a few moments of Eva Cross was also a wonderful surprise! This novella was endearing, and quite the emotional rollercoaster, and I enjoyed every second of it, and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone and everyone! The love that Garrett and Teagan share is priceless and enduring, and it carries through the words on the page into the heart and mind of the reader.

Raw and emotionally intense story.
Butterfly in Frost was such a raw and emotionally intense book. I was sucked into the story from the first pages and the protagonists really intrigued me. Dr. Teagan Ramson has been through a complicated divorce that altered her life and mental health. Buying a new home far away from New York seems like exactly what she needs to regain her inner peace. Garrett Frost, a famous painter, and photographer moves next door to her and suddenly things change for Teagan. They have instant chemistry and they both have a traumatic past so they seem to be perfect for each other. He sticks by Teagan's side when she is most vulnerable and she helps him see past wounds that tortured his soul for a long time.Although a short novella, it tackles the subject of depression, grief, and family relationships at a complex level. I liked the pace of the book and character presentation and I never would have anticipated the twist in the last chapters. It was more than the romantic story I expected, and Sylvia Day's writing skills are irreproachable. She sure knows how to capture your attention and surprise you with a turn of events when you least expect it.I would have loved this book to bee more lengthy, I wanted to spend more time with the characters at the end but overall it was a delightful, heart-gripping, quick read which I wholeheartedly recommend.

new twist
I have followed every Sylvia Day novel right to this new one Butterfly in Frost. Starts a little differently from previous books by S.D. but give it time to grow on you. I found a gentle love story mixed in with a tragic loss was inspired. The ending has a lovely twist and I have to say made me cry my eyes out. Touching read, and yes it has a bit of gratuitous sex in places but not too much to spoil the read. Well worth the wait.

Slightly Disappointed
I have always been a massive Sylvia Day fan, the Crossfire Series are up there with some of the best books that I have ever read. This book was a disappointment, I bought as I heard Gideon & Eva featured but it actually ruined the story. It was a forced plot to keep Crossfire fans happy and just didn’t tie in well.I enjoyed the relationship between Garret and Teagan although I would have liked to see their relationship develop more. I feel like the plot twist at the end was just an unnecessary way to just end the book quickly.
