Live At Rockpalast

Disc1 – is as a good a live set as you will find anywhere. A great mix of their rock numbers up to 2/2/77, which stand up well compared to anyone else’s, with great guitar playing and vocalisation and with a very individualistic interpretation of ‘Who Do You Love’. You wouldn’t know that they were German, except when they introduce their next song to the audience. This is a disc that you want to play again and again. Playing time just over 64 mins. Great value all round and you get the DVD version of it too!Disc2 – interestingly was taped on 3/3/79 - seems a bit of a theme was starting here - with another very good set. Maybe a bit more proggy in places than the first, but still very rocky overall. This is also on the above DVD. Of note is the fact that they now introduce their songs to the audience in English rather than German; except at the end of the last track, which seems fair enough for a German audience. Playing time 53 ¼ mins.Disc3 – recorded 22/12/04 in Bonn whist the two previous sets had taken place in Cologne. Surprisingly, T3 sounds quite Skynyrdish of the ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ variety, but this just adds to the enjoyment and overall range and scope of the band’s playing. This is also on the second DVD where you in addition get bonus tracks from ‘The Beat Club’ of 1972. Another great set- they hadn’t lost their edge, even after all these years.Playing time 74 mins.If you want to ‘Come Taste The Band’ then this is a very good place to whet your appetite, you shouldn’t be disappointed.
