Hansel and Gretel

My students were completely mesmerized by the illustrations in this version of the classic fairytale. The witch was not illustrated to be too scary. However, this version does say that the witch was howling horribly when Gretel pushed her in the oven. I would highly recommend this story to anyone with children 5 years or over.

I read this story to my four year old grand daughter. We both agreed that the step mother was mean, and the witch was mean. The children survived and were able to go home to their father who had a job now. I have five married children with 23 grand children so I may buy 5 more copies to give them for christmas!

We love Hansel and Gretel. Our favorite version scares the socks off my kids.  Hansel and Gretel (Picture Puffins)  They like it so well, we have it in the box with the scary Halloween books. It's an October tradition.This is a sweet Hansel and Gretel that is not quite as terrifying. The cute woodland creatures are sweet, the gingerbread fence is sweet, the gumdrops and icing roof is sweet, the witch even wears a sweet apron.I hope your family enjoys this as much as we do! And don't forget James Marshall's version at Halloween -- it will give your kids the chills.

It was ripped to begin with. It was for my 6 year old girl. She waited a month to receive a ripped pages trash book. It has like 6 pages ripped. I paid $6 dollars for this

Beautifully illustrated and a 'real feel' of what an authentic fairytale book should be - must capture 'the magic' from a childs point of view!Magical and Mythical - the true and real concept of a child's fairytale!!!Also, can tie-in and follow on - bought this as a gift, following: 'building' a 'sweetie gingerbread house' - just like the one on the front cover - a most enjoyable activity . . . . . better than having a child glued to the TV screen . . . .
