Works with door bell 4
+ Pretty straight forwards to set up.It also takes any distortion out of the screw holes that may not be perfectly lined up especially on bricks.Solar Mount screws onto the wall and bell screws into the solar mount, just watch the holes as they are pretty close and you may think it’s one screw that does it all and it’s not. Also note it will not charge the battery if it’s above 90%, we have some light on it and it’s charging it just fine, it may not charge the battery up fully but it certainly slows down the discharge rate. This is compatible with door bell 4 (new one with colour playback) nobody could give me the answer but it fits just fine!- it’s a bit expensive for what it is

I have now thrown it in the bin
After 7 months of nothing but hassle with the ring doorbell I have just removed it & thrown it in the bin. Initally I set it all up on my desk & it all looked good, until I fitted it to the front door. The rssi value was to high so I had to get a WiFi booster, getting everything working took over 2 hours, but at last it was working for about a week RSSI level was just about in what was required. In the end during the last 7 months I have had a new router, new WiFi booster, New Mobile phone, but no matter what I do it works OK for a week, then the responce to my mobile gets slower & slower to a point where someone presses the bell & I can get from my back room to the door, open it, pick up the package & sit backk down before the remote chime rings, followed by my mobile. By the end of the second weeek the battery is down to 50% & the thing stops working all together . I wish I had set light to the £250 I spent on the doorbell, repeter chimes, solar charger & spare battery, at least I could have had some warmth out of it.

If yours does not work, or does not show as connected, read this...
Buried in the Ring help pages, is the below nugget:"Note: To maximize battery life, your Ring Video Doorbell 3 does not begin its automated recharging cycle until the battery reaches about 90%. That means that Ring Video Doorbell 3 units connected to solar recharging units or internal wiring will not see increases in battery percentages until the battery falls below 90%."Mine, only showed as connected when BELOW 85% - after it has enabled the automated recharging. iPhones do something similar, to preserved the Lithium Ion battery, only charging above 85% when you need it.Initially, I had a dead unit, which was confirmed with a multimeter. However, when I got the replacement, it would not show as 'Connected' in the App... because I'd charged the battery to 100% whilst waiting for the replacement! If you want to see it 'Connected' immediately after install, make sure your battery is below 85% to force the automated recharging to be active immediately.

Works for me.
Our doorbell is in full sun all morning (when it is shining!) The solar charger was very easy to install. There was a blip when it became disconnected after I installed Chime Pro to try and improve the wi-fi connection but it seems to have righted itself. I think it does slow down the battery usage - which is why I bought it. I wanted to avoid dealing with the tiny screw that locks the battery into the doorbell any more than I had to. Fortunately, there is a spare screw that came with the bell unit but still care is needed to avoid losing that screw when removing the battery for plugged in charging.Since my original review we have had a few sunny spells and the solar charger does seem to have increased the battery power somewhat rather than just slowing down the discharge of battery power. However, it does sometimes disconnect for short periods of time and I have no idea why. I have double checked all connections. The battery power was 44% when the panel was first installed and is now 59% and I have not charged the battery on the mains. Today, 27th Feb, battery power is 78%. I have still not had to charge the battery on the mains so I am delighted with the solar charger.I will not be purchasing a spare battery so long as the charger works like this.30th September 2020 - Battery level now 89%. Hovers around that most of the time. Have still not removed battery to charge on the mains since before Christmas.

Great Product, Works Well & Does Charge👍
I purchaces this product to go with a Ring Doorbell 3 Plus and, like a few others, I was confused why it wouldn't show as connected or charging when it was adorned with direct sunlight. As many other reviews now show that the battery has to be between 85% - 90% before the solar charger will start to trickle charge the battery. As you can see in the images, if you select the device in the Ring app you will see a little icon in the top right of the screen indicating the health of the battery. If this has a "Sunshine" over the top of the battery symbol it basically means the solar panel is connected correctly and will charge your device in the right conditions. It has NEVER show that the solar panel is specifically charging the battery at any point but it definitely is as the battery has been in for the last 3 weeks and is sat nicely at 90% right now and has been no lower than 82% at any point. I'm not sure how this will effect the life span of the battery due to never fully discharging, but, if the solar panel keeps it at 80% - 90% at all times then I can't see this being a problem. The look of the device blends in nicely with the Ring Doorbell 3 Plus and still has the function of being able to mount with or without the vertical and horizontal wedges. Obviously this increases the overall footprint and depth of the device but it doesn't look out of place. One other point I want to mention is that the perfect position would be a south facing wall, as in my case, to get the most effective charge for the longest period of time. However, the device basically works as long as it's in direct sunlight.Definitely recommend this product.Update: 2nd September 2022Since purchasing this in March 2021 I have not had to take out the battery for the door bell and charge it at all. Battery is showing as 85% charged currently and is still charging the battery.

No necesario
La batería puede vivir un mes de más pero es únicamente una ayuda por la batería, no más...Al fin, tengo directamente la caméra con la electricidad general

Screwdriver missing
Inorder to attach the ring doorbell to the solar panel, the front cover needs to be removed. However, these are tiny screw (size of screws for glasses) for which there was no screwdriver delivered and its not a custome size that's readily avaiable in a full set of screwdriver tops. As such, I couldnt attach it.
