Superb
Have yet to watch these dvds but from memory of the television scheduling, another few hours of superb stories to look forward to. I doubt those chosen for the cast could be improved upon. Roger Allam, Anton Lesser and Sean Evans are excellent as is Sean Rigby and James Bradshaw. It's a shame they did not continue with Dakota Blue Richards' character as she was shown to be an intelligent woman who stood against the misogyny of the 1960s. Excellent casting. The dialogue in some cases is very witty; Roger Allam and James Bradshaw deliver their lines with a sense of the droll. One of televisions better productions. Shame there aren't more like it but that makes them stand clear of the crowd.

Excellent series 7 of Endeavour...
Endeavour is a brilliant and very well produced series.I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the full series‘ of the prequel to the Morse series’; and Sean Evans is excellent at portraying the younger character, Morse... who was expertly played by the wonderful, and very sadly missed, John Thaw.Winner, winner chicken dinner... in my books! Top marks for a first class production throughout.Series 7 Endeavour is as good as when they first started! They just seem to get better and better!

Series 7 just about manages to warrant the continued existence of this long-running drama.
I'm glad that I hadn't bothered to read any reviews of Series 7 before watching myself since Jon Bee in particular has described in great detail most of the pertinent plot moments - had I seen his review beforehand then any pleasure to be gained from the further evolution of Morse's development would have been spoilt. There have been criticisms from various quarters about this Series comprising only three episodes but frankly considering that for the first time Endeavour has had an overreaching arc storyline which takes a whole year to be resolved the producers would have been hard pressed indeed to extend to any further episodes. However It is a regrettable fact that the overall standard has dropped with implausibilities continuing to pile up so much so that the denouement in Episode Three becomes almost risible. This viewer's credulity was stretched to it's limits at times. When Season 6 was released I expressed my purely personal view that it is a mistake for the lead actor to also direct. Unfortunately this is repeated here with Sean Evans directing the first Episode which smacks of self-indulgence with far too many moody "arthouse" camera angles etc to the detriment of the plot.It seems to have been forgotten that Morse as portrayed in the original Series is not a particularly pleasant character with a heightened sense of self-importance and intellect treating all and sundry with a considerable amount of disdain so it is only right that evidence of these traits should manifest themselves here. The confrontation between Morse and Thursday on the towpath (scene of one of the murders investigated) has been a long time coming with a degree of merit on both sides. How the final splintering of their relationship is achieved is about the only reason for having a Season 8 which has already been commissioned. Hopefully scriptwriter Russell Lewis will be able to bring the whole endeavour (pun intended !) to a conclusion that is satisfactory to all who have been involved in this project.Audio : English onlySubtitles : English HOH onlyExtras : As listed on the slip cover to the DVD these comprise Fred and Win / The 1970's Look / Morse and Thursday / True Love and Nemesis / Directing and A Look At Series Seven. However although the DVD does include all extras listed some appear under different headings on the disc itself.

Three great episodes
For me this series is one of the best not only for the story line and Endeavor's love life! but you also get a glimpse of his true character emerging. There are some lively exchanges with inspector Thursday.Am looking forward to series 8 which arrived today.

Meraviglioso.
Cast di altissimo livello, location e fotografia bellissime, dettagli storici minuziosi dai costumi alla scenografia. ... È uno Shaun Evans strepitoso. Da vedere e rivedere più e più volte.

Not the right Morse
I was a ferverous fan of the Morse series (and later Lewis) so I was very pleased to discover these Endeavour stories based on Morse's early years. I watched all the seasons until this final (so far) 7th series. I found it to be inferior than the previous seasons but the overall rating still remains 4 stars.I must say, however, that from the beginning I've always found that Shaun Evans was a poor choice to play young Morse! He is not a bad actor but the diction is apalling! Sorry.
