Used for Applique and Stretchy Fabrics - Great Stabilizer!
I bought this to help sew appliques with stretchy fabric. Prior to using the stabilizer, the stretchy fabric was rolling up, moving around, and wouldn't stay where I needed it to stay. I'd tried fabric glue, disastrous results. When this arrived, I decided to try a small applique as a test. I ironed some of this on the wrong side of my blue fabric and the right side of my silver fabric. From the silver fabric, I cut a diamond shape, and then sewed it to the blue fabric. Voila! I had an applique!I then went to my original design and drew on the paper, then cut the design out, and added sewing lines. (Great idea!) I attached the two pieces together and I had nice straight lines on my applique and there were no marks left on the fabric itself after tearing the stabilizer away.I did need to use tweezers to pull some of the bits of stabilizer out of the threads after tearing it off the finished product, but that was worth it to have this stabilizer hold the fabric in place.I also used some of the scrap pieces of the stabilizer (pieces I'd already torn away) on top of the fabric, but not ironed down, as I was sewing to keep the stretchy material feeding evenly in my machine. That worked great as well. I did that to protect the metallic blue finish on the fabric from being removed due to the adhesive used during the ironing process. (My test piece of ironing the stabilizer on the shiny side of the metallic fabric did lift off some of the blue.)After removing the stabilizer, there is no residue left on the fabric. So, whatever they use for the adhesive is not left behind.

It is Totally stable!! Great product
I bought this a few weeks ago, and didn't get around to trying it out until last week. I am so impressed with this. I used it on a sweatshirt even though I have been told by my Pfaff "teacher" that I should use strong cutaway stabilizer. Guess what, it worked just fine, and it did tear away afterward. You just iron it on, it stays on, it didn't tear or pull away. I love this stuff and will be ordering more when this gets low. Thank you, thank you. Oh yeah, and the price was really good too.

Great as tracing paper too!
I love this product. I use it to hand embroider my own designs (about 6"x5")on cotton t-shirts. Everything I read about this type of stabilizer stated to put it on the wrong side of the fabric. However, I needed a way to copy my design to the shirts and embroider over the design. I figured I could just trace my design onto this stabilizer and iron it to the right side. I used a pencil to trace onto it and it worked perfectly!! There is no reason to not use this as a tracing paper/stabilizer combo on the right side of your work.I will say to be careful when ironing it onto the right side of your work. Most instructions say to use very high heat, but I ended up putting those ugly iron shine marks on my shirts. I found that it worked just fine for me on medium-high heat. It will peel a little around the edges, but since my designs were small, it wasn't a big deal.

Good for some things, not so great for other things.
I'm not entirely sure how to feel about this stabilizer.I have used it for both hand-embroidery and machine-embroidery, on 100% cotton fabrics, polycotton blends, and polyester felt.It is a decent stabilizer, but you need something on top of the iron-on adhesive to make it stay on. I found this is especially true with hand-embroidery.HAND EMBROIDERY:You re-iron the stabilizer to the fabric every so often, or else your fabric will completely separate from the stabilizer, ruining the design you have traced and pretty much ruining your whole project. This runs true with the cotton, polycotton, and polyester felt fabrics I tried this on. However, it is the only stabilizer that I have found is perfect for hand-embroidery, as it is not too thick for the needle.MACHINE EMBROIDERY:If you are doing a one-time design on an article of clothing or a bag, this would probably be fine, especially if you don't need the finished embroidery design to be stiff.I make patches on one long sheet of fabric, re-hooping when more space is needed. Before I re-hoop, I have to re-iron this stabilizer to the fabric - I have found that my fabric I like for patches, polyester felt, is the worst when it comes to having to re-iron. It also results in a very flimsy patch due to how thin the stabilizer is.The take-away is, it's decent for small hand-embroidery designs when you feel like you need stabilizer, good for tracing, and it's good for one-time machine embroidery designs on garments or finished "products" (hats, bags, etc). It's not great for the main purpose I needed it for.

A great standard stablizer, easy to use and a good price!
I love this stabilizer. I use it a lot. It is stabilizes good enough. So easy to iron on and tear away and remove with a clean finish on the back of your embroidery project. I can use this product on knitted t-shirts and sweat shirts and it stabilizes these fabrics well without having to use a more expensive stabilizer if you are new to machine embroidery. This is a nice Affordable stabilizer to have on hand.

Wow, this is great
I was trying to get some larger appliqués to work on knits on my embroidery machine, and not having an easy time of it. I may not have tried everything, but I had tried an awful lot of things.Enter Totally Stable. A little light fusing on the back of the knit, and presto! I can hoop the knit (in my case, t-shirts and sweatshirts) tightly without it stretching in any direction. (Wow!) Then I can do my appliqué, press it, wash it, do whatever to it, and it's fine. I used to get a lot of ugly lumps when pressed, but no more. (*** NOTE: The appliqué still does need a cut-away stabilizer under the stitching, so the embroidery holds up under repeated washings and pressings. ***)I used to hear a lot of bad things about Sulky products. Now I realize that the people telling those stories (mostly retailers) are telling them because they don't carry Sulky products. This one in particular is terrific.

I'll probably never use another machine embroidery stabiliser.
Utterly brilliant. Irons on simply, firms up the machined emboridery just that little bit but not to lose the natural flow of the material, and is so perforated after sewing it just peels away. I've used both medium and lightweight fabrics, and even some more delicate and easier snagged fabrics like satin, and this stuff keeps the embroideries perfect and the fabric firm in the frame. One of the best sewing supplies I have ever bought and you get blooming loads of it on the roll.

Stabilisateur Sulky
