Earth Safe Finishes Varnish, No VOC, Satin

As advertised, this satin finish varnish is clear and produces no VOCs, making it safe to use indoors. It dries in about 15 minutes, and using a foam brush to apply the finish leaves no streaks or unevenness as you build up the coat you require. The large mouth makes it easy to use, and being water based, clean-up is a cinch! I am a "Made in USA" person, so this product makes me very happy!!

It's great that there are no fumes but the lid gets stuck on almost from first use. I had to stand it upside down in hot water everytime I needed to open it.

Used it to cover some hand made Christmas ornaments this year. The colors brighten up for sure and it leaves a glossy look on the surface. We used it for covering self drying clay. I noticed if we apply too much, it becomes sticky, so I made sure to apply a thin layer twice and that worked well.

I have tried another earth safe finishes product, the resin kit that I just love. I needed some kind of varnish or sealer to seal paper beads that I make, and I wanted to use a "green" product. I quit using other varnishes/sealers as they had too potent of an odor.I thought this product would be perfect for what I needed.When the varnish arrived, the first thing I did was open the jar and take a whiff of the varnish. Wow! Knockout - the smell for me was overwhelming, it smelled like some king of acrylic or some kind of strong chemical odor that I could not tolerate. I did not want to be breathing the odors from this stuff while I worked with it on my beads.After trying it again because I wanted so badly for it to work, I put the cap back on, and decided to not use it. I was disappointed as I understood that No VOC's meant no chemically odor. In this case I guess thats not how it works.I did find another couple of glazes that have virtually no odor that I can safely work with. I still love the earth safe resin kit which has very little odor which I can tolerate, unlike this varnish.I realize not everybody would experience this odor problem with this varnish, however I am sensitive to odors and such, and this varnish did not work for me.

I used it over the paint and it works very well. Odorless and easy to apply. I paint it on anything that need to keep the inside color in and outside color out. It works very well. I have been search long time on finding the safe varnish to use in house and this meets my expectation.

This varnish is a good sealer, but it does leave a sticky feel after it dries. Since I usually seal my projects 2 to 3 times, I have been using this varnish as my first sealer the I would finish with another that has a more satin feel and is not sticky.

I love this varnish. It works very good and gives me the look on my driftwood pieces that I've been looking for and I can do my work inside in the comfort of my air conditioning because there are no VOC's. Fantastic product!
