US Rubber Company was founded in 1893 when 9 rubber companies formed a monopoly, Charles Goodyear was an owner of the company. The Company lasted until 1917, when Keds was born. These sneakers are replicas of those original fashion/ basketball sneakers offered by the Original US Rubber Company. They are made in honor of Harry Lew, the first African American Pro Basketball player, who played his first game with the Pawtucketville Athletics in 1902.
