It allowed me to go home safely!
Let me start by saying I'm 6' 4" and 285 lbs. I ordered this after seeing several of my buddies start using it and I gotta say. It Saved My Life already!!!! Hanging ladder stands 20 ft up and had a buddy "holding" the bottom (he's a hunter in training and I use that term loosely, lol). I was at the top trying to tie off with ratchet straps and I had hooked the HSS Rope style tree strap as soon as I got to top rung, near seat. My buddy's cell phone rang and he instinctively reached to answer it, let go of ladder and it tipped sideways with me at the top. It's safe to say I was just "hanging out", 20ft in the air and the prusik knot on the HSS tree strap did not slip even an inch. I'll now be ordering the HSS Lifeline for each of my ladder stands and keeping the HSS for use with my climbers too. Thank You HSS for an AWESOME product!!!!!!!!

Best companion to the safety harness
Best companion to the safety harness! Been using for a year now and can't believe I didn't have one sooner! Quick and easy to attach and long enough for most any size tree. Mine initially showed up WITHOUT the carabiner, but I contacted HSS and they quickly shipped me one. Great customer service experience! Most all the negative reviews are folks that don't understand what this rope is for. It is solely for replacement of the usual tree strap that comes with your harness. I will say that the Amazon description is misleading and mentions ascent and descent, but that is meant to correlate with a climbing tree stand where you would use this to always be connected to the tree while going up or down in your climber stand. This rope is NOT a lifeline style rope that you attach to for ascent and descent of a ladder or hang-on type of tree stand. For that, you will need the Hunter Safety System LIFELINE here: Hunter Safety System Reflective LIFELINE Systems (Single Pack)

Asvertised like the more expensive version - It’s not close
I had bought this hunter safety system because I recently bought the more expensive version that was $33. It had the cowbell and the rope glows when you light it up with a flashlight at night. This particular version was $20 and it was being advertised like it’s the more expensive version without the cowbell noise dampener and without the glowing feature. What I failed to realize is this product is not the full length like the other version. It is probably only 3’-4’ In length and serves absolutely no purpose other than hanging around the tree in the stand. It does not have any length to clinb up and down the tree, which is imperative because I climb 25’.I’m very disappointed after receiving and hanging on my 2nd stand. I would’ve gone ahead and purchased the more expensive one had I known the lengths. Now I have to go buy safety rope to run down the tree and tied to this particular harness up top.Don’t buy this product.

Saved my life ( or a nasty 20' fall ) & the family appreciates it
Works great as a tether, AND as a second lineman's belt to get past branches [ I'm sure there are other uses as well ]. In my climbing stands I can use this to reach higher and easier. When using my micro lite hangons I use this as a second lineman's belt so that I am always connected. Last season, while up over 20' and standing on my hang on, my hang on gave way and I fell less than 2 feet; the prusik knot did its job and kept me from falling even more. I redid the built-in ratchet strap on the hang on, continued the hunt ( a little shaken ), and made it home safely. I take this into any tree that I don't already have a 30+ foot life line already in place, and will likely purchase another in the future.

Take no Chances
Use this in conjunction with my HSS Safety harness for initial Hang on set up - This rope style is Great for climbing and so much easier to use than a strap. Stay tethered to tree while mounting climbing sticks, Hang on stands, and until I get into the stand where I connect to my Life Line. Anybody who does not use every possible safety precaution while setting up or hunting in a tree is playing with their life. A friend's 80 yr old father lost his life several years ago when he fell from a tree stand. Being much younger then I never even thought much about safety until that point. Now that I'm older I pray that God give me the health to hunt until I'm 80 - but I will never take a chance by not staying tethered to the tree at all times..

Check the date of manufacture
Let me state the product deserves 4 1/2 stars. The carabiner could use a rubber coating to keep noise down but other than that it is a quality product. Well made, heavy materials. The problem I have is, like most true safety equipment, this item has a stated useable lifespan. This lifeline has a label that says to remove from service 2 years from date of manufacture. Date of manufacture 4-17I received mine late in the month 8-18. So 17 out of the 24 months life have already expired. Not really a good value compared to one a couple months old.

Very convenient for use, could provide several more feet of rope length
Whether you make your own or purchase this one, I would definitely recommend purchasing one of these setups to anyone that tree stand hunts. Once it's set in the tree it provides a safe, convenient, and reliable way to get up and down from your stand without risking a fall. There are two downsides to this product that I have found:1. You still need to find a way to set up your tree stand and tree strap before you can use this safety rope. That's not a knock at all to this product or its design, but definitely something to consider. I personally use a linemans' rope and it works well for me.2. The rope could come a bit longer. I only sit between 15-20 feet up in a tree, yet I found that the rope wasn't quite as long as I had hoped it would be. I have to climb up to the first step of my tree stand before I can hook myself to the line. This isn't a dangerous thing, rather an inconvenience. However, it would be worth either HSS providing a longer rope, or if you like your stand set very high in the tree, considering another option. All in all it is my opinion that this is worth the money you pay for it and a necessary addition to any tree stand hunter's system. Just be sure to consider your stand height when looking at this option. If you sit over 20 feet in the tree, you may want to look elsewhere.
