Works great
Tried cheaper adapters and they had all kinds of issues like slow performance, disabling slave drive, lockups, etc...all fixed when using the StarTech. The only thing I have against this is the same problem found on the other adapters and that is the pins from the IDE connector are really close to the hard drive and could cause a short if moved around. Easily fixed with some foam tape but really should have something from the factory, especially given the premium price. Other than that great adapter, very happy with purchase.

Works with zoom HD 16
This product worked with my digital multi-track recorder which I converted from IDE to ssd. I tried the other brands and none of them worked. I even tried IDE to SD card and IDE to compact flash. None of those worked. This is the only one that worked for me. This was with the zoom HD 16 multi-track recorder.

Great Quality and Well Engineered
Pros:Has support for 48b LBA, ATA 33/66/100/133 MHz and 1.5/3.0 Gbps SATA.Really liked the included jumpers for setting Master/Slave/CS. Some other IDE/SATA adapters don't have this and force master only. The included documentation is clear and well-written.The form-factor of the board is smaller than other adapter boards I've seen. This can be helpful if there isn't much room at the back of the drive bay you're installing this into. The included power connector breaks out the Molex connector so it can be connected away from the back of the drive, saving a little more space.Cons:Another review mentioned this, it's not much of a con for me but I'll mention it: the IDE connection on the board is just two rows of pin headers. There is no extra support/alignment aid on the ribbon cable connection. It's probably not needed, and I'm not too put off by it, having 40 pins soldered into the board should have enough strength to prevent any bending/etc. The connection itself felt sturdy. But since there is no plastic border around the pins, you need to be sure the connector is properly aligned when seating the cable.Overall this is a great board and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again. For the quality it is well worth the price.

Worked great! Got a 20 year SATA drive from an iMac working in a 25 year old PowerMac G4.
In addition to doing what I needed, the instructions were clear and explained how to set the jumpers for master/slave/cableselect.

Good for PCs, not great for Xbox
Works perfect for connecting SATA drives to IDE PCs but for Original Xboxes it has a few issues.Boot speeds were noticably slower than stock with a 1tb Western Digital HDD, and the DVD drive stopped recognizing discs as well. This behavior went away after going back to the original hard drive and ditching the adapter.I don't think it's StarTech's fault that the adapter didn't work exactly how I hoped. It's a quality product and I'm using it for a VERY niche use case.

Works great with SCO UnixWare 7.1.1
I attached a 2010-ish 32GB Patriot Memory SATA SSD to my 1999 HP Vectra VLi8 MT (Intel 440ZX chipset) which an on-board IDE (Ultra ATA/33) controller. I could not partition or format the drive with Windows 98SE. However, I was able to install SCO UnixWare 7.1.1 without any issue whatsoever! This is a must have accessory for any retro/vintage computer enthusiast.

Perfect for a Windows 98 Retro Rig
I was using a different IDE > SATA converter at first, but DMA issues caused the system to become extremely unresponsive while doing disk I/O.Per some suggestions on various forums, they mentioned it was most likely the adapter and to get this StarTech adapter instead. And you know what? This one worked perfectly! Super fast DMA disk access now on my Win98 retro gaming rig!Yes, this adapter costs a bit more than the no-name ones, but it is worth it if you want something with better compatibility with retro systems.
