Luisa the Green Sea Turtle - Luisa la Tortuga Verde Marina

This is a touching story of a Sea Turtle that is caught in a net and is taken home to be cooked into turtle soup for a fiesta. Luisa, the turtle cries so long and pitifully that fisherman's wife convinces him to let her free. The colored pencil drawings are rich and dramatically colorful, making Luisa a character we care about.Because of Luisa there are more and more people in Mexico working to help save sea turtles.

This is a great book for kids in several ways. Adults can learn from it and enjoy it as well. It makes you think about endangered wildlife, has lovely illustrations, gives you a small taste of life in Mexico around Bahia Kino and tells the story in both English and Spanish. It was a nice way for me to work on my Spanish. It would be a wonderful before bedtime read for children.

A beautiful and emotive story that may well have happened. It creates in children and adults alike, a conscience of the danger the sea turtles are in while relating a touching story.A highly recommended book!

This lovely book, beautifully written and illustrated, is perfect for children learning, or simply enjoying the pleasure of reading in both English or Spanish; because it tells true facts, and clearly shows the different ways giving the same meaning in two languages, while also entertaining and encouraging interest and learning, it is valuable for teaching. Excellent for reading aloud!

I love this book. I got a copy for my daughter. It's bilingual book in both Spanish/ English. The illustrations are gorgeous.
