What the Ladybird Heard (What the Ladybird Heard, 1)

One more most satisfying experience of the Amazon service & the book. My daughter is going to be soon three, so I'm not sure if she understands the deep concept behind the story, but sure there is still a lot for a little kid to enjoy. It's colourful, sparkling & bright book. She loved going through the book and participated in saying how the animals make sound, it was amazing the way she was responding to see this book. So for me it's good, sturdy board book for lil one. I'm great fan of the author Julia Donaldson, she sure knows the pulse of the lil kids thoughts. Illustration by Lydia Monks is another glory to the book! We loved it!

The illustrations are so detailed and engaging....The story is superb n well presented.the rhyming lines are very apt n funny...Very good book for 20 months n older kids.( N I laughed reading it myself n my son laughed seeing me laugh). But I guess 2.5,3 year olds will like it even more( mine is 2 wen I bought)

Good book, for bigger babies maybe. The story is too long for my 10 month old, I know it is for older kids. But the book is bright and colourful and has a nice story, with a sing song rhyme. I think as he grows older, he will like it. Presently he only looks for the ladybird on every page.

Had bought it for my 4 month old baby...but since it was too long a story form him, had kept it aside to be used later. Now when I took it out after 4 months, it does not play any sounds. Really disappointed....could have bought a cheaper product instead....no point buying this sound book. Hardly used it and it has already stopped working.

My 1.5 year old LOVES this book. It's such an interesting story, it's like a thriller for small children: can the ladybird prevent two thieves from stealing the prize cow? Great rhyme and it incorporates animal noises as well: it's an entertaining ride!

Lovely story, fantastic illustrations. Though my 4 month old is too young to follow the story, she loves the beautiful pictures and the board book especially excites her. A must have for your baby's book collection. Amazon experience fantastic as always.

Good quality and animation. Nice story and rhyming line. Only found it a but repetitive. Few of the pages have the same lines

another masterpiece from Julia Dolandson! we have almost by-hearted the rhymes in our household.the storyline is simple and easy to tell.. so many times I tell the story without the book and sometime my young child read it (without knowing how to read) by herself

Not my favourite Julia Donaldson, I don't like the illustrations as much as the Axel Scheffler ones for a start and I just find this one slightly clunky to read. I don't really like the premise of 2 bad men plotting to steal, it feels kind of a sinister plotline for a 3yr old but that might just be me. Similarly I find the reference to cops rather than police a bit grating, feels slangy and too grown up, I'd hate hearing my toddler talking about cops. Just personal choice for me, I think there are much better JD stories - Zog, Squash and a Squeeze, Snail and the Whale etc are gentler.

We love this story, its a fantastic little read that children can easily engage with, especially if you are teaching animal noises. If your child is a little older (mine is 3) its a great story for them to follow along with to see what happens with the thieves. The illustrations are beautiful and is a great addition to his book collection.

My 2 year old son loves Julia Donaldson's stories and this came recommended by a friend. It didn't disappoint. The story is amusing and he loves the 'find the ladybird' game on each page. The print quality is excellent and the robust pages will be sure to last many hours of furious page-fliping by an excited toddler.

Beautiful book. The online picture doesn't show that the front cover is glittery so even more appealing for little ones! Lots of fun reading this to my friend's daughter

Always a great Author. This book is a favourite of our class. Teaching Literacy through this book was fun. I used sign langue too, to sign the animals and their colours. In one week the children of 5years old, had learnt 10 colours and animals.The pages were easy to follow, the rhyming text was fun too.
