Maintaining and Repairing Your Scale Model Trains

I love trains but I want them to work right without any input on my part. I don't like repairing or maintaining them. That means that I needed this book even more than other hobbyists. It comes it handy with a wealth of information and tips on taking care of my running gear.The book is divided into several logically laid out sections. The first gives some general background information on things like tools and work area. After that, there are chapters devoted to diesel locomotives, steam locomotives, rolling stock and the layout itself. Directions are given for disassembly and (hopefully) reassembly. More important, tips are given for where problems usually occur. This can help.I still don't like the maintenance aspects of the hobby but it is a necessity. This book helps.

Book showed in easy language how to maintain your locomotive and rolling stock. It stated and showed in pictures how to clean the engine and also where to lubricate. Also how to adjust the wheels on rolling stock. It was worth the price because as soon as I received the book within an hour had two engines up and running.

Bought a used train, only to find that it wasn't running properly. Knew nothing about how to get started repairing. This book was very helpful with general information. Actual photos get you working in the right area, although it is not real specific for any certain brand. Good suggestions for general maintanence and upkeep. My train is running now.

You can save money when using this book because it shows you how to maintain and repair things yourself. Hobbies can be costly, especially if you are paying someone else to do repairs for you. It seems to be a popular book among model train keepers.

This is just what I needed. Don't pay attention to the negative reviews. The book is written so anyone at any level experience can understand it and put the techniques to work right away. I inherited a large HO collection and just retired so I was looking for a book that would help me get started correctly on track. This is the one, photos are prefect and the instructions are written so they can be put into action.

i had already looked at this book at a hobby store. it was almost twice what amazon was selling it for. it is a very good book if you are new to model railroading and need help keeping your trains in good running order. book, shipping, vendor, and price were all great.

Covers maintenance and repair requirements that may be second nature to seasoned model railroaders, but new to those who are inexperienced or new to the hobby. Excellent resource.

Easy to understand steps for servicing and repair of Loco's.A pity it is mainly for American engines but the basics are the same.

one of the first books i bought when i started model railroading. it has helped me get my rolling stock fixed properly and running great. This is a must have for your model railroad library.
